Re: Where can I manfacture plastic gears?
Does anyone know the drive speeds of the different Sega CD models? I remember reading somewhere that the Model 2 was x2 speed, but I find that doubtful, given that Model 1 was x1 speed and that almost all CD consoles at that time were x1 speed. I got a Model 2 simply because I knew it wasn't as likely to break, but the Model 1 is a bit more spiffy with the Model 1 Genesis (which I intend on modding sooner or later).

Here's what the back of my Model 2 Sega CD's box says:crux wrote:Does anyone know the drive speeds of the different Sega CD models? So it's neither yes or no in my opinion as the wording is kind of vague as to if the Model 2 is faster than a Model 1, or if Sega was just using marketing BS to sway customers.SEGA wrote:Precision CD-ROM Laser Drive. Faster & More Accurate Than Typical Audio CD Laser Systems.

Re: Where can I manfacture plastic gears?
Every site I could find listed the transfer rate at 150 kb/s, so I think it can be assumed that both models are single-speed (1x).
