It won't work with a home disc. Only a Pro disc. The keys aren't universal, they will only work on the version you have them for. Pro for Pro, Home for Home, Business for Business.
Again, this code STILL won't work with your XP home upgrade disc.

If you can, why not just go Windows 2000. No internet checking, fast, and its fairly much the same as XP under the hood. Plenty of hacks for new games to run on 2k as well.
Older. Not wiser.

Its easy to shut off all of those annoying UAC popups on Vista. Some newer PC games may not run on XP too. If you really dislike Vista after turning of UAC you should maybe look into Windows 7. If you can get a code (not sure if they are still giving them out) that RC version is good until next year. Its worth trying out, I love it so far. I installed it on an older laptop that is about to die and it runs great. When I first booted up, all of my drivers, etc. were gone, but after the first windows update and a reboot everything was updated and working great. I didnt have to look for one driver for anything. It is a little easier to shut of the UAC on windows 7 too, and if you choose not to, it is a bit less annoying. Instead of "upgrading" to XP, maybe you should think about either getting the RC test version of windows 7 or waiting for retail in a few months.
