What games did you play as a kid?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I'll describe the TI-99/4a stuff, since it's pretty obscure

TI-99/4A:

TI Invaders (Space Invaders clone that played way better than the atari 2600 version)
A-MAZE-ING (A maze game with a three-pixel mouse searching a maze. Tons of options)
Alpiner (Mountain climbing game)
4A Flyer (Flight simulator)
Parsec (side-scrolling space schooter)
Hunt the Wumpus (This was a graphical interpretation of the game)
Pole Position (Needs no explanation)

NES: (We didn't get one until 1992)

Super Mario Bros. and SMB 3
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Ice Climber
The Legend of Zelda
WWF Wrestlemania
Double Dragon II
Maniac Mansion
Adventures of Lolo
Guerilla War

I'm not sure of the age cutoff here, so I'll end here. I pretty much played NES almost exclusively until about 2003 or so, with some notable exceptions to play Zelda 3, etc...

So there are a ton of other NES games I love that I didn't play until 13 or later.
Systems: TI-99/4a, Commodore Vic-20, Atari 2600, NES, SMS, GB, Neo Geo MVS (Big Red 4-slot), Genesis, SNES, 3DO, PS1, N64, DC, PS2, GBA, GCN, NDSi, Wii

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

Mortal Combat II on the Sega Game Gear and Sonic 2 + Sonic & Knuckles on the Genesis. I also remember renting Vectorman a lot, but I really don't remember any other Genesis games that I owned back then.

Lessee...

First we got an old NES with Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt Combo, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, Super Mario Brothers 2, and some racing game from my grandparents. I hadn't even heard about the Super Nintendo back then. And basically knew nothing of games. All those games were HARD AS HELL. My little brother (age 4) was always better at those games because he didn't go to school yet and could play them all day. Bastard.

My cousin Melissa got a Game Boy about a year later and I fell madly in love with it. I played her copies of Tetris, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, and Donkey Kong (not DK Country) every chance I had (which was about 2 hours every 3 months).

I got my own Game Boy with Mortal Combat. I swear it was a bundle, but I'm not sure and was like 7 tops at the time. My mom wouldn't let me play Mortal Combat (she wouldn't have let me play Link's Awakening either if she knew Link had a sword) and she called Nintendo to get it exchanged for something else. I was given a choice between Tetris and Donkey Kong Country. I had already played Tetris, so I decided to take a risk on Donkey Kong Country. As it turns out, it was nothing like Donkey Kong, but I ended up really liking it. That was the first game I ever beat and it took me quite a while, seeing as I had nearly no gaming experience.

Then I borrowed The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening from my cousin and played it to death. That was the first video game I completely fell in love with. I never had any idea of what was going on and was UTTERLY blown away by EVERYTHING. The number of weapons and items I could use was AMAZING, seeing as I had never played a game with an inventory before. Dungeons?! People to talk to with changing dialogue trees?! FREE ROAMING?! SIDEQUESTS?! PLOT?!!? My head nearly exploded. I remember it taking like 200 tries before I beat that freaking final boss, but I beat him... and then it was a dream. My first video game love, Marin, was only a dream :( . I was depressed for nearly two weeks after that. Link's Awakening was the game that got me into gaming for life  .

Super Mario Bros 1, 2, and 3
Legend of Zelda
Double Dragon
Contra
Mega Man 2
Super Mario World
Zelda LttP

This is loosely chronological, so by the time I was finished with Zelda, I was a young teenager.

Hardcore Genesis Platformer nerd here, but not just platformers:

Vectorman
Sonic (all of them)
Kid Chameleon
TJ&E
Ecco 1&2 (CD versions)
Earthworm Jim
Aladdin (I liked it a lot)
Mickey Mania (CD version)
Jurassic Park
Sol-Feace
Eternal Champions
Shining Force

I did play my NES, atari and Colecovision before I got my genny (got it for my 8th bday). There I was big on:

Zelda
Mario 3
Mickey something or other (Minnie got kidnapped or some shit, it was awesome)
Pitfall

you know the usuals.

First game I ever remember playing was this Ninja Turtles game my dad had on the Amiga. I also played alot of DOOM with my father. He showed me how to do everything, and worked me up to actually being able to play the game. I remember that at first I had him kill all the monsters for me because I just wanted to explore. Later he set it on easy mode ("I'm A Wimp"?) and I learned how to mow through the enemies. He also put in a cheat for me to have the BFG, which blew my mind. I have an absolutely awesome father. I also spent alot of quarters in the arcade playing anything made by Sega, Capcom, or Konami. I remembered liking Sega the best (Golden Axe, Hang-On, Space Harrier, and Rad Mobile really won me over back in the day), so, in my naive childish state of mind, I asked for a Sega arcade machine for my 5th birthday. My awesome grandfather took this to mean the Sega Genesis, and I'm glad he did. It came with this cartridge called the 6-Pak (which I still own. It's absolutely the coolest cartridge ever.) that had Sonic the Hedgehog, Golden Axe, Revenge of Shinobi, Streets of Rage, Super Hang-On, and Columns. I played each of those games to death and still continue to do so to this very day.

My father was my primary entry to gaming, though. I have fond memories of playing Konami's Simpsons beat-em'-up with him (me as Bart, him as Homer), as well as waiting in line for Street Fighter II to see what all the fuss was about. I played as Ken and he played as Dhalsim and kicked my ass with the stretchy limbs, which he insisted was unfair. We played again, me still clinging to Ken and him playing as Zangief and of course he still won because it was a four-year-old playing against a 32-year-old man, but I didn't feel quite so cheated.

Anyway, yeah, my father, the arcades, and Sega were my introduction to gaming. To go into further detail would be too complicated.

Oh, and as an important side-note, Final Fantasy VII taught me how to read. Yeah.

I totally forgot about Duke Nukem for a second there. I'm still wishing for a real sequel to the 2nd game.
Couple more too add since you got me thinking about it more:
The Lucasarts space sim games, Tie-fighter, x-wing etc.
and Wing Commander.
