hrmmm... I've used this stack of DVD-R's that I bought off of Newegg and never had a problem with them. Don't remember the brand though.

You don't have a router or switch lying around? I just always watched everything off my server... and stored the games on a 120GB HDD in the xbox. The loads times are decreased MASSIVELY.

Sadly, I don't have router, not a wired one at least :( but I'll make a crossover cable over the weekend.

On DVDs, at newegg I found Ridata, Verbatim and TDK which one is the way to go??

Just a question: on a Thomson DVD Drive, will Memorex CD-RWs work?

from my experience. some if not all the phillips drives read CD-R and DVD+R. i even just tested it just now. i i have a spare xbox with a phillips drive(sorry, cant get the rev #). i inserted a cd-r with matrix revolutions and it loaded up in xbmc. i tried a audio disc on a cd-r. that loaded up. i then tried a dvd+r with a xvid file and that loaded up fine. anyways, you shouldnt need to burn at a slower speed. ive used all kinds of media and all the drives ive tested. its taken the media fine. i burn it all at 8-16x. although, if you want to load up files, just use nero and burn it as data. i suggest to change the dashboard to unleashx or xbmc. unleashx can read data discs too. the softmod itself should not conflict with loading discs unless the dvd drive itself is bad.

edit: also, i suggest getting a burner where u can change the booktype. not sure if your liteon can do it, doesnt hurt to try tho ;)

CD's didn't work, but DVD-R worked like a charm
