Haven't been by here in a while but I had to take the chance to give my opinion on this topic, something I've wanted many times in the past when I've been traveling though cities.

Simple search by store name, Zip code and City/State with an "x" mile radius.

Users need the ability to create new stores, modify existing information and delete stores that are "off topic" or have been closed. They also need to be able to give ratings and comments on the store that will fall into an overall rating, maybe even categorized by things like, value, service, environment, quality and diversity of products? Ability to upload pictures of inside/outside of store to make it easier to locate would be nice but not necessary.

Information that might be useful would be address, phone number, website, days/hours of operation.

A site I used to use that might fit the general idea in terms of functionality is http://www.ddrfreak.com/locations/locations.php

Very useful to find DDR machine but has similar function, search by location, user driven content and ends up being fairly maintenance free on the part of the admin. Locations also require more than one person to agree on edits to prevent false information.

Hope this helps and I greatly look forward to seeing any progress made! I'd LOVE to input info from my area and any other locals I've been around.

Also, to everyone else, the inventory thing is overkill, that would require all the stores to agree and have electronic records that were stored in the same format and updated properly, which will never happen.

There was, but the site and map both disappeared a little while back.
