YEEEES. I LOVED THAT GAME.
BTW, There's no reason at all to play older Civiliaztion titles if your computer can run newer versions. They are strictly better and lack a real campaing mode.
If you enjoyed Diablo check out Sacred since it's a similar game and a great one. Cheap too.
Too many games lol

I think the Xbox 360 started fucking things up for us PC gamers; the Xbox 180 was merely the Precursor.MrPopo wrote:I think the big reason FPSs are coming up is that the era that your PC is from was a big era for the FPS (before the Xbox started ruining things for us).
Last generation we saw games that were developed for the PC first and then ported over to the consoles (ie. Half-Life 2 and Far Cry). This generation we're seeing games developed for the consoles first, then ported to the PCs (ie. Bio Shock and FEAR 2).
I don't play too many RTSes, but I liked Age of Mythology, War Hammer 40K, and Company of Heroes are ones that grabbed my attention.

I would argue against that, actually. I would say, if you're going to pick Civ games, go with 2 and 4. Each title has similarities, but just enough differences that the games stay fresh, and the graphical differences can be amazing. Just the comparison of Civ 2 and Civ 3 is an enormous leap. But, of all of them, Civ 2 is the one I've probably had the most fun with.General_Norris wrote:BTW, There's no reason at all to play older Civiliaztion titles if your computer can run newer versions. Deus Ex: Invisible War makes me sad on my insides. And my outsides. It was the real first incidence of "this is how life is going to suck from now on".GSZX1337 wrote:I think the Xbox 360 started fucking things up for us PC gamers; the Xbox 180 was merely the Precursor.MrPopo wrote:I think the big reason FPSs are coming up is that the era that your PC is from was a big era for the FPS (before the Xbox started ruining things for us).

It is seriously shameful that no other RTS has ripped off the espionage or reputation systems of Seven Kingdoms. They made the game so freakin' epic.
I am right there with you. Invisible War disgusted me about the first time I shot someone in the head and it didn't kill them, in addition to the nixing of Leveling up individual skills and universal ammo. They reduced one of the best PC experiences ever to Baby's First Shooter.MrPopo wrote: Deus Ex: Invisible War makes me sad on my insides. And my outsides. At times you saw like 6 guys crossing the map just to get to your town and it was so obvious

Yeah, Deus Ex: IW was one of (if no the) first signs of the FPS apocalypse. I haven't played it myself, but after reading your comment (and others like it) I think I never will...MrPopo wrote:Deus Ex: Invisible War makes me sad on my insides. And my outsides. I would argue Goldeneye as its herald, actually, since it proved they could be successful. Deus Ex: Invisible War was more like one of the seven plagues. You know, the "Good FPS will now suck" plague. We've seen two others that I've noticed, the "All FPS for PC will now be dubbed down so console players have a chance in multiplayer" plague, and the "Halo" plague.GSZX1337 wrote:Yeah, Deus Ex: IW was one of (if no the) first signs of the FPS apocalypse. I do like the term FPS apocalypse though. Mind if I borrow that?
Re: Suggest me some PC games
Is the "Halo" plague just another name for the "Health Regeneration" plague?
Re: Suggest me some PC games
You do have a point there, Ack. But with Goldeneye and Perfect Dark you could see the concessions made for the lack of precision from not having a mouse, and there was never any pretense of also putting it on the PC. Then you had Halo, which was bigger than Jesus for the Xbox people, and it opened the floodgates. Then DX:IW got raped. And Bioshock got dumbed down from what it could be. Hell, UT3 is the only FPS I've played (emphasis there) that's on both consoles and PC that actually doesn't feel like it got neutered.Ack wrote:I would argue Goldeneye as its herald, actually, since it proved they could be successful.
