My girlfriend is really fond of my collection, although she's not the biggest shmup fan. She's had me up till 1am playing Guilty Gear XXAC before.

We both share a love for games and debate, but I don't think she'd ever post on a message board.

I don't think their is any females on here,but I don't think its weird when girls play video games.My sister use to play the older 2D Sonic the hedgehog games back in the day.Now she plays Animal Crossing on Wii a lot.I never actually seen a girl play a fighting game before,but sometimes I see chicks play DDR,some of them are really good.

I don't think girls playing videogames is weird at all. Its like saying it is weird for girls to watch movies.
I mean I see a lot of fitting girl games like The Sims and puzzle games, you can see stuff like Mario Kart and more.
It is hard to see a girl playing a gory game or something like metal gear and shouting swear words. I guess because its unfeminine. Its hard to imagine a girl doing a super combo in Tekken for example, or pulling a fatality on Mortal Kombat.

I guess a lot of people thinking if girls play videogames its like a girl watching The Evil Dead or American Pie. There other movies fitting like You've got mail and Serendipity

you should probably get out more, if most of the girls you know don't swear while playing a game...:p

I've tried looking for girl gamer forums and websites, but I've found none that focus or even discuss retro stuff... plus, the most I've found are either very disorganized (been kinda spoiled here) or they are "Lesbian Gamers" sites that are thinly disguised feminist missionaries...

I also know I'm not well known on here as female or anybody, since I don't talk much about retrogaming. I like what I like, and if something good comes along or if I find something great I appreciate it (just like with books or movies). Incidentally I'm known amongst the females in my (or rather, the local groups) as the "gamer girl" even though there's so much more to me than that. I don't really prefer titles, anyway.

my girlfriend likes playing games (typhically rpg) but she can beat me down hard with fighting games (i kinda suck at the genra anyways but that really doesn't matter).

She is better at 3d fighters while I smoke her on the 2d ones. Her favorite is the DOA series which we have all 4 and play pretty regularly. (even part 1 mostly as warmup) She loves all the outfit choices! I try to get her into Capcom and Snk fighters but she just doesn't like the mechanics.

She likes cute rpgs like Kingdom Hearts series, and all kinds of old school platform games and puzzle titles. She spends a lot of time playing classic comp titles like the Genesis collection on 360. Flicky is a fav of hers.

Music games are a big hit with her too. Shes got a whole studio of instruments and mics and such.
