So my friend is going Pandora mod my PSP for me tomorrow...
Re: So my friend is going Pandora mod my PSP for me tomorrow...
I've tried a bunch of PSP dvd/video encoder programs and settled on XviD4PSP

It takes some specific settings changes to get max (full resolution) quality (very few PSP video converters can do it at all), but even the default settings are good. I can't remember the name of the other program I was using but it was really simple and quick for only DVDs. If anyone's interested I'll find it's name.

Anyone know of a site that has a comprehensive guide for NesterJ, plus maybe downloads for different versions?superlarz wrote:NesterJ - NES emulator, I have had no issues with on anything I have tried. Make sure you get the correct version for your firmware.. look for FW2.XX or something of that nature (assuming you are using a psp slim.) The one I use is FW2.xx+devhook
The PSP emulation scene is so sketch, it's ridiculous sometimes. My search for stuff just leads me to scattered info on random forums or scam sites.

The emulators are around... not too hard to find if you spend a little while looking. The roms are easiest to find if you are a member of Underground Gamer and ps1 and psp games can easily be had at bitgamer.

I downloaded and tried NesterJ 1.20 over the weekend, but it would either show up as corrupted data placing it in the "GAME" folder or would launch under the "GAME150" folder but then give an error and go back to the PSP dashboard.Anapan wrote:QJ.net keep up with almost all of the releases for PSP

Guess I'm going to have to scour these QJ forums to get some help because the documentation is all in Japanese.

I *think* this has something to do with the kernel versions setting (or something like this) that you can change from the recovery menu (hold R when system boots). I remember having to change that option to remedy a similar issueFlak Beard wrote:I downloaded and tried NesterJ 1.20 over the weekend, but it would either show up as corrupted data placing it in the "GAME" folder or would launch under the "GAME150" folder but then give an error and go back to the PSP dashboard.Anapan wrote:QJ.net keep up with almost all of the releases for PSP

I'm still using the 1.11 version with mirror rendering (same version over 4 firmware upgrades).
This version works well for me, so hopefully it will work for you too.
http://www3.telus.net/anapan8/psp/NESTERJ_1_11_RM.RAR
I have it located in \PSP\GAME\NESTERJ_1_11_RM\ on the memory stick
I'm using firmware version 5.00 M33-4
In the Configuration section of the recovery menu these are the settings that may affect emulator function:
Game Folder Homebrew -> 5.XX Kernel.
UMD Mode -> M33 Driver -NO UMD-
XMB Usb Device -> Memory Stick
Also in the M33 VSH menu (press select while on the home screen if enabled) I have UMD ISO Mode set to M33 Driver
Your problem may have something to do with having/not having a UMD game inserted, but those settings should bypass that problem if that's what it is.

Re: So my friend is going Pandora mod my PSP for me tomorrow...
Just like Anapan said and Superlarz listed the best of the best in emulators. The thing is most emulators were develop in the earlier stages of psp homebrew when there was only phats around and they use the kernel of the lower firmware which is not compatible on newer psp. If you have a phat there's an install from Dark Alex / M33 for that kernel for you to not have trouble with older homebrew but best bet is to get an updated version.
From my point of view things are getting easier by the day in the psp scene, I've been into it since 1.50 firmware so I can tell you many stories of complicated things. If you need anything just post ahead there are a lot of people that lurk around here who know their stuff and I always tend to read every psp topic I see. I recommend psp-hacks for files (emus, official firmware files, apps, so on... ) or QJ.net if you know what you are looking for. Give IRshell a try, its the best app out there.
Enjoy your psp!
