ill echo what other have said before.

bring only what you can afford to lose or break. chances are that many other people in your dorm will have systems for you to play and spill on, so i would recommend bring only things that you yourself would want to play alone, for the multi party type games use other peoples.

i didnt bring when i went to college and i am glad. i still have all my old systems in perfect condition and i saw many of my friends bite the dust during my college years.

plus the less you bring, as others have said, the less youll have to distract you. between your computer and your friends games you will find plenty of diversions.

ive been to two different schools, none with dorms, but i still take video games when i go.

since im cool with a ton of people that work for the school (non-faculty like security and janitors), I am able to bring my ps2, and hook it up to the lcd tvs they have on the hallways. some of them even bring their games.

some dood brings his xbox 360 and his entire rock band kit which we end up setting up at the cafeteria and just rock out..

im always carrying my ds, so i always play that, even in class when its really boring (which will most definitely happen to you in your first year.)

bottom line, like everyone, i would recommend you to bring a hand-held and if your dorming, bring something you can easily replace. people dont take care of crap that isnt theirs.

Alright, It's sounding like a dreamcast and a DS (and maybe a snes) to me since games are free and it aint terribly valuable. As for the gun... I don't think I'm quite that hardcore... and I dunno, something about bringing a gun seems like It'll make me a *wee* bit too intimidating than I'd like to be. 8:00 classes though... man I can barely make it to my 8:00 classes today, I think I'll try to get my classes to start at around 10 ish. Anyone in the Colorado area know the good spots for anything? I found me a kickass used record store but aside from that I'm a little screwed. Is theft really that big of an issue?

I would also suggest bringing a controller for a modern system you like. Often you will find that guy who has a ps2 or ps3 but only one controller. Heck most of my friends still only have one PS2 controller.

I waited until after leaving the dorms to get the firearm, but you're really going to have to look into local ordinances and university policies. A buddy of mine was nearly thrown out of school and arrested(illegally I might add, as the restriction was a university policy and not a law). He had to undergo a psych evaluation before they would allow him to return, and he was fired from his university job and forced to move out of the dorm. The university also barred him from getting his stuff back for a week.

Funny thing is, he was a brilliant student, a good guy, and a hard worker. He just had a shitty boss who was trying to get him into trouble, and the bitch found a way.

Don't make the same mistake I did. If you have a gun bring it. You'll be surprised how much crazy shit goes down in a dorm and you'll be embarrassed when everyone is pulling out their chrome and you forgot yours at home.

I didn't think it implied protecting one's gaming property...
