The Soul Reaver series is one of my favorites. its just not my absolute favorite. But I can tell where you are coming fromRaziel wrote:There are 7 games which I hold dear to the heart, so I may as well list them right away:
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (my username is actually the name of LoK: SR's protagonist)
Silent Hill 2
Okami
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne
Persona 3
Shadow of Destiny
Yeah, I know, they're all newer games, but in order to leave a mark in my heart, a game needs to have a memorable story or characters. I'm not advocating "story first, gameplay second" game design, because I wouldn't choose a game with gripping story but shallow or badly executed gameplay as my favourite. An excellent game should strike a perfect balance between all the elements (music is very important to me as well, since these days I listen soundtracks more than I play games), forming a symbiosis.
Your all time favorite video game???

Older. Not wiser.

If someone put a gun to my head, I'd say Super Mario World.

Call me stupid, but Ghouls N Ghosts.
I remember plunking quarter after quarter into the Ghost's N Goblins machine at the laundromat when I was younger and the first time I saw the "New" Ghouls N Ghosts cab I about pissed myself. I wanted so bad to play it, but I was grounded at the time and was out with my Mom and couldn't stop to even look at it.
Needless to say I cracked open my coin jar when I got home and rode my bike back. They had to kick me out at closing and I was afraid to go home for fear of my Mom for taking back off when I was still grounded.
Totally worth it.
The music to this day brings back so many memories. I think it's one of the finest games ever made to this day. It's probably the sole reason that I traded in a whole bunch of NES games (lol, not my ghosts n goblins cart though!) to get a Genesis so I could play it at home. Hard as nails too, they just don't make them like that anymore...

Shinobi 3: Return of the Ninja Master
It has everything I need in a game: Platforming, hidden items, great boss fights, a good scoring system, and a variable difficulty selection.
Killer soundtrack and visuals
OH yah and it includes all 3 things that make anything great if included. Robots, Ninjas and the Undead/Mutants.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

Re: Your all time favorite video game???
Nice. Dragon Force is probably in my top 5, and Tactics Ogre for the GBA is, in my opinion one of the best SRPGs ever. I've only dabbled in the offline Ultima games but played Ultima Online for 10 years and still play around with my own server. It's been a huge part of my gaming life.sakicfan84 wrote:I like the system approach. I don't think there's anyway I would just be able to pick 1 damned game.

Mega Man X or Mega Man 2. I love these games so much, I play them just to relax.
