Look on the back of the box for the Sonic 1 or Sonic 2 Game Gears and you'll see the Sega brand adapter. It was called Master Gear, the rip off ones are Gear Master. The Gear Master adapter is WAY more plentiful and as such the original Sega versions have proven really hard to locate. I think Sega abandoned making the peripheral early on likely since demand was low and someone else picked up making the adapter. When other companies in Europe, South America and elsewhere extended the life of the Game Gear in areas where the Master System was much more popular than in the US the third parties kept making the Gear Master so Sega never saw a need to reissue their own version.Curlypaul wrote:Did they even do such a thing? The only ones that I have ever seen are the Gear Master ones. I have one of those in a box although it is missing the screw.
I cant even see a pic on the net of a sega branded one

Your favorite titles on the system Scooter?
Re: My Game Gear collection
Sonic 1 and 2 are pretty good, but I really like Micro Machines the best. I haven't really tried some of the RPGs much but I understand some of them are pretty good.

Re: My Game Gear collection
I remember Sonic being great, along with Jurassic Park, but I only owned Indiana Jones Last Crusade and Tessere (an odd puzzle game). I think I may expand the collection a bit in the near future. Too bad the GG to Master System adapter is above my current skill level.
Re: My Game Gear collection
You know what would be awesome. If one of those companies that makes ripoff systems made a game gear the size of the gba micro. With actual battery life that doesn't weigh 14 pounds.
Re: My Game Gear collection
Great collection, Scooter. Have you every figured out its market value?
Re: My Game Gear collection
Never really thought about it. I collect for ME, not really concerned about value.dsheinem wrote:Great collection, Scooter. Have you every figured out its market value?
