easy there

gotta agree though
To both of you, if it was really that simple why has the game persisted so long in fighting game tournaments? The top tier players shouldn't be so easily impressed with flashy baubles.
Youre right, its not "that simple". You have both schools going on. I love the game, but realize its shortcommings when compared with a game like Third Strike. I think there are many gamers who are so blinded by all the giant number of characters and combos on screen that they dont even reallize how unbalanced it is. These people are probably not so much the tournament players who love it for the reasons Ack mentioned, in which case the lack of balance is somewhat not relevant since everyone is well aware of who packs the most punch and chooses accordingly.

I believe that as unbalanced as it is, it is still possible for someone with enough skill to take out a high-tier team, with a low-tier team.

I don't really mind that much if a fighting game is unbalanced. Back when I played SFII in the arcades all the time, I used to love the fact that some characters were particularly crappy because it always added insult to injury for my opponents when they lost and I was playing as Dhalsim or Zangief.

As I recall, Dhalsim was considered almost invincible in the first SF2.

Not talking about tournament players (Who I try to stay far away from), I'm talking about the common man. The common man thinks that MvC2 is the best fighter ever, and for no other reason than 52 characters and 100+ hit combos.

As for tournament players, I've yet to see a tournament listing that didn't have more that half of the participants playing Magneto, Storm, Sentinel.

This is all great and good for tournaments, at least it keeps most of these cheap douchebags away from me. However, once this comes to PSN/XBL, all these people will be online. If Soul Calibur IV has taught me anything, these top-tier using douchebags do not play exclusively in Ranked Servers, so you can't even get away from them that way. Just as you cannot escape Cervantes in SC4, you aren't going to be able to escape MSS in MvC2.

Um, I just WHIOS'd the domain and it checks as a godaddy domain. Does it seem a little fishy? Why would Capcom use godaddy of all people for a domain?

Double that. Triple that if you want your details kept private. I don't see why Capcom wouldn't use a more professional service. It would be like if Capcom hooked their offices up with Time Warner internet.
