That's true, they did release the Sega Ages disks in Japan. I'd want to see them go all the way with the concept, though. Separate little thirty dollar ports of old games aren't gonna appeal to the general public that much. A robust compilation featuring the very best Sega-made games for the system would garner alot of media feedback that could get the general public to catch on. And just to be awesome, they could call it, "Where Is Your PlayStation Now?". Heh. I dunno... these things just seem obvious to me. I'm honestly not sure if Sega would prosper in the market or be run straight into the ground with a devoted following (ala the Dreamcast) if I were to take it over. Oh well. Unless I get incredibly lucky (understatement), the world will never know.fingersmaloy wrote:To be fair to Sega, they DID remake a number of those...on the PS2. Nights, Panzer Dragoon, Dragon Force, virtual On, Die Hard Arcade, and I think one of the racing games have all been remade as Sega Ages games. It could all fit on a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD, it would be cheap to do, and it would get ridiculously good reviews, thus good sales as well. Sorry for the tangent, I just personally believe that I should run Sega.)
A few months ago I heard some rumor that Capcom was working on a Devil May Cry-style Strider game. Sadly, nothing this generation has excited me as much as that. I really hope it happens.

-Die Hard Arcade, keep it the same but with better graphics than Saturn & PS2.
-Streets of Rage,I think this would be great if they make a sequel rather than a remake and than keep it 2D,but they should do like what Capcom did with the SFhd remix game.
-Final Fight, this should get a remake but with more special moves and updated visuals.
-Toe Jam & Earl,I knew that their is a remake on Xbox, but I want it 2d and like the second game not the first one.
-Columns,these games are so fun and addictive,if they do a remake they should keep it mostly the same but with updated visuals.

it would be weird, and not that I'd change the "style" or anything, but....
I think it would be interesting to see a remake of Skullmonkeys- more space to work with

"a REAL Super Mario game - like the old-school games. No kicking, no 3D, no freakin gimmicks. Basically, like a Super Mario Bros 3 sequel"
You mean no outerspace? Or Water squirting machine? Or carrying babies on your back? They did make New Super Mario bros and Super Paper Mario. . . but I would like a new Super Mario World game, it could even be 3D if they made all the levels like the bowser boss stages in Mario 64 (Straight forward no wandering around completing missions).
I would also like to see a new vectorman game (sidescrolling, not like that crap they cancelled for the ps2)
Also Ristar and Sparkster. I could see both those working well in 3D if someone competent worked on them (Give Ristar to naughty dog or capcom or something)

Original_Name wrote:Which would it be? For me, I'd choose Panzer Dragoon Saga. It'd be great to see all of those ludicrously gorgeous locales remade with current technology, plus the general gaming public REALLY needs to be given the oppurtunity to play that game. I'd also like to see the Sonic series' Death Egg Saga (Sonic 2-Knuckles) redone either in Guilty Gear X-caliber 2D or in the vein of Unleashed's daytime-levels.

I've read on quite a few sites that Sega actually lost the code for Sega Dragoon Saga when one of the department heads quit. Here's a quote from wikipedia:
"Although the game is frequently requested to be re-released on a modern format by fans, there is apparently no interest from within Sega in re-issuing it for any console whatsoever. Team leader Yukio Futatsugi has also confirmed that the original source code for the game has been lost, adding further weight to the unlikelihood of a port. There is now a demand from fans for the source code to be recovered. Despite its scarcity, the game still enjoys a persistent following."

I'd kill for a new Commander Keen, or a properly done new Virtual-On (not OT, the original)

Silent Hill 1
All the 2D sonics with 32 bit graphics honestly with animation quality of like symphony of the night and hi def sprites like guilty gear x2 *Drools*
Panzer Dragoon series especially Saga *Or at least release as download on virtualconsole, xbox live etc
Chrono Trigger *even though the re-release was good at least upgrading better animation quality and 32 bit sprites would of been a nicer touch and actually bother releasing it in PAL territories.
Burning Rangers <33333
ummmm perhaps Skies of Arcadia it'd make the game even more scenic and beautifully designed!
all i can think of some re-releases of rare games would be nice for once i dont understand why not Radient Silvergun, Dragonforce, Marvel vs Capcom 2 etc

Some composers actually do much better when they are limited by the hardware, especially from the 8 and 16-bit eras. I mean, look what happened to Mega Man music once they moved past the NES...Mozgus wrote:Haha I could go for that. I'm going to be a broken record and say Subterrania. I want it to be remade in high def 2D graphics, and I want Jesper Kyd to come back and do another fantastic soundtrack, this time not limited by the hardware.General Chaos wrote:Ah, um... oh! General Chaos. It would be amazing with online play.
Why yes, I do kinda think the Mega Man X music sucks. Some OK melodies, but otherwise, crap.
Re: If you could nominate any retro game for a modern remake...
I read that, too. Still, if they have all the source media, the graphics files and audio assets, they could simply create a new engine. It's nothing to sneeze at, but it would be cheaper and easier than totally recreating all the art and media assets. And this way they'd be forced to not cheap out and simply do some emulation crap.Killette wrote: I've read on quite a few sites that Sega actually lost the code for Sega Dragoon Saga when one of the department heads quit. I think Shining Force III needs a re-release as a single game rather than 3 installments.
I also think we need to see several of the Compile shooters re-done, like Musha, Blazing Lazers, etc...
