Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I usually come out ahead as well it's all about knowing when to stop. My brother is extremely lucky and usually ends up winning like $50-100 within the first 10 minutes of arriving at a Casino 90% he breaks even or loses the $20 or so he brought with him. He just doesn't stop playing

I have been on the forums for years now but I have actually never discussed or saw a post by Racketboy

You're not looking hard enough.

Also, he still posts the start of every TR thread.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Apartment shopping today. Sadly the place I was eyeballing just raised their prices (start of the year I guess), but they are under the same management company my current complex is under too. So I have four years of good history with them and there's some perks to transferring over, going to try and see if I can haggle the price a little...
Any tips?

If you've got a good credit score, bring proof. If you've been consistently employed, at the same place of employment, for a good long while, bring proof. If you can secure a letter of recommendation from your previous landlord, bring it. These are valuable tools to prove that while you may want a lower price, you're a safer long run bet over someone who doesn't care to negotiate.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

I am never able to haggle. I just don't see how you can let someone lower their price, if he wanted it for lower he wouldn't put the higher one. I can only haggle in 2 ways:
1)I am buying multiple items/bulk so give me a better price
2)I am actually very knowledgable about the product I can identify flaws to convince the seller to lower his price point (old model, same product sold less else where, missing features..etc)

Ah, but renters stick around for years sometimes, and bad ones can ruin your rental properties and cost more money in the long run. So a known good renter asking for a little bit of a deal? Plausible.

Yup, I'm gong in for the tour today. Hoping that four years of good history with another complex owned by the same company looks good to them. They won't have to check my credit (wouldn't care if they need to though) and I won't have to put down a deposit if it works out, along with getting keys a week earlier before my lease ends here. So definitely some nice perks to sticking with this same management company.
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Well a lot happened since my post above, haha. So the ideal place I wanted (which was only 1.5 miles from work) didn't work out at all. Staff wasn't very helpful, prices didn't match online, the smaller rooms weren't available in my time frame, and they have electric/gas for heat along with shared water per building. Forgot what it was called, but that's not how it works for my current place at all. I only pay for the water we use. So on top of the higher base pay the utilities looked like they were going to be potentially higher too.
Found another place though with the same management that fit my range way better. This place is only 3.5 miles from work, so it's hard to complain haha. Not really too far off from where I am now, I was wanting a bigger change of scenery and wanted to move up north closer to KC... but this will do for now.
It's one of those weird setups though with the bathroom in the bedroom. But when I thought about it, it doesn't really seem ideal to entertain guests in a single bedroom apartment no matter how you cut it, and I have a few friends with homes by this point. So I'm not sure I'll ever bother having guests over. Was still excited at the thought of building up a gaming cove though.
One good point my roommate brought up is being able to get your utilities and bills moved around... is that possible at all? Because yeah I just realized, currently I pay -everything- at the beginning of the month, my cut of the rent and all my utilities/bills. But I goofed and didn't really consider how harder that would be living on my own, it would be more ideal if I can split things up with my bi weekly pay schedule. Is this doable? Or maybe the way my roommate was describing all this just confused me. lol
