Most of the large casinos are 8 deck shoes. You should be able to find a table that pays 3-2 on blackjack at all the large casinos, but on the flip side they also hit soft 17. All the Caesar's properties will offer surrender at their 3-2 tables. If you want single/double deck then you get really restricted doubling opportunities, though I think I've seen once or twice them having a single/double table that did allow you to double on anything.

I haven't been to the MGM properties in a long while; you have to be playing at least $25/hand to get any sort of comp, and they still don't give you much comp-wise. Caesar's group keeps giving me free rooms so I haven't paid to stay in Vegas since my very first time out.

If you're talking about Caesars Palace this is good news, that's where I'm staying.

Caesar's Palace is one of them. There's also Harrah's, Linq, Flamingo, Bally's, Paris, and I think Planet Hollywood. One thing about Caesar's is that since they're a high end casino to get a 3-2 table you have to be playing more per hand than the other properties. I think it tends to be $25 for Friday nights and $50 for Saturday nights; if you want to play lower you have to go to their 6-5 section.

My advice is consider whatever money you've budgeted spent as entertainment dollars, and don't get sucked into "winning it back" or whatever.

I, personally, won't gamble because I know the odds, have a fear I'd get hooked, and have horrible, horrible luck when it comes to games of chance.

Oh, most definitely. Know when to walk away when you're ahead and when you're behind. I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone up a lot and keep playing and it all disappears.

A few years ago my brother walked into a casino, won five bucks on his first game, said "I'm good", and walked out.

The way I play is take $20 with you and hit the penny slots. You can make that $20 last all night if you don't get greedy and even if you loose it all at least you had a little fun and most places hand out free soft drinks and stuff. Plus you can always just go and watch someone else lose/win big.

I've been fortunate enough to come out ahead on my last several gambling trips. I'm only doing basic strategy so I am quite aware that my fortunes can fail at any time; I only bring as much as I'm willing to lose. Last time I was in Vegas it was my last night and I was even for the trip, so I decided to sit down at a $50 table as a "go big or go home" sort of thing. I ended up getting all the cards and ended up profiting 50% of what I brought for the entire trip.
