How far did you get?

I can't stand not being able to wheel/zoom in and out though. The zoom in angle is just awkward so that doesn't help either. But oh well, over it.

Z for zoom.

Think I missed those two words. Yeah, the zoom is pretty useless.

Just got to the Nopon Village. So not far. Are there any incoming awesome party members I should know about?

No, but you're about to get to the Eyrth Sea when I thought things leveled up big time story/character wise.

I do think it's a great game but I dunno, I just put it down after an hour or so every time my past few runs. The story doesn't have the "wtf-ness" that the Xeno games need.

I think I'm gonna give Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne or Digital Devil Saga a run...

There are quite a few big events that unfold a few stages after the one you are at. Don't worry, it is a Xeno game after all, expect things to get crazy. That said, if the story was ever not hooking me at the time, it was the exploration elements of the game that did, and then the story got better.

The gameplay gets more frantic too. It really is about using tactics against your foes and dissecting their moves rather than having a million attacks. I think it is something fresh for this genre.

Yeah, I was feeling a little burned out around the marsh portion myself, but after that I've been completely pulled into the game since then. About to hit 50 hours now, so I'm making really good progress now. The fights have definitely gotten more complex as you said as well.

I never went in expecting super crazy Xenogears/Saga though, but it's pretty much right under them in terms of storytelling against most other JRPG's in my book. It's a slow progression but after really getting into it again, I love the long journey. Definitely helps the game and world it presents come alive.

Got sick this weekend and could not play a shmup for the life of me, so decided to pick up Tales of Vesperia after it was suggested to me by many folks.

got about 5 hours in the first day, which is the longest I have played a game straight since I can remember. I really like this game, and I was not a huge fan of Symphonia, which is the only other Tales game I have played.

However, I did hit a wall of a boss, killed me like 10 times so far. Either I suck at this game, or this boss is abnormally hard.

Is it the wolf boss? If so, yes, he's abnormally hard.
