I think I had something like that on an early mission (been a while since I played it) due to either an unconscious body falling/falling into water from where I stashed it originally, or it being in a place that rats would get to it.MrPopo wrote:I did a low chaos run in Dishonored (but missed out on getting no kills because apparently tossing an unconscious body in the water to hide it kills the guard)
What single player FPS campaign are you playing?

I mean, in none of the games is it explained or obvious that that would kill someone, but logically speaking, it does make sence that throwing someone who is effectively drugged into a river drowns them.Ack wrote:Just like in Thief.MrPopo wrote:(but missed out on getting no kills because apparently tossing an unconscious body in the water to hide it kills the guard)

Oh yes, it makes logical sense, but I don't recall logic having a place in video games.

Anyone here find Doom to be a little tougher than Doom 2?
- Weirder claustrophobic map design, tight corridors
- No super shotgun = Cacodemons are a big threat
- Inventory reboots with every episode
Running through the classic on UV again via Doom 3 BFG. E4M1 is always probably the toughest level for me, with you starting off with nothing and getting ganked through every inch of the level. Like with all the episodes though it feels like it gets easier as you go and your inventory gets more stocked.
I guess I find Doom 2 to be really easy in general anyways. Even though it adds a lot of the other monsters in, you get much more open and spacier levels, and the super shotgun. It's a lot easier to manage hordes.

How far are you in Doom 2?

I haven't gotten to it yet but I beat it on UV for the 360 version of BFG Edition years back and then replayed it again when the Doom collection came to the PSN. This will be at least my 6th playthrough or something like that over the years. I find it to be really easy but always have a hard time with the last boss.
Plutonia (AKA The Seven Layers of Chaingunners) is a completely different story though and I think I've only barely scraped by that on HMP. I'd argue it's just as hard as some of the tougher megawads out there. TNT I find to be a little easier, but still harder than 1/2.

Cacodemons are much easier to manage with the super shotgun, yes. Doom II's wider levels and more plentiful ammo opportunities also help. I'm in the middle of that one somewhere along..... *checks* Tenements (Map 17 according to Doomsday Engine).
With the final Ghost Recon expansion pack out of the way, I'm finally ready to start Bioshock! I've never seen a game with so many technical issues on newer machines, however. Installation was a trip, but I got that figured out, and then as soon as the plane crashed into the ocean, there was no sound. This is apparently a common issue, and I had to set it to XP-SP2 compatability mode to get the sound to work. It's a shame that I can't get the EAX issue sorted out, another common issue with a ton of solutions that don't work for me since it's such an old game. I will try it again tonight!

Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Just finished the second mission for Dishonored's The Knife of Dunwall DLC, and it gives me a lot of hope for Dishonored 2. I was a little worried when I heard that Corvo would be given a voice in the sequel, as he was entirely silent and a complete analogue for the player in the original. In The Knife of Dunwall, however, Daud is a voiced protagonist who is his own character, but still exists well and believably in the numerous choices the narrative gives you. The execution of it feels very good, and it feels very reminiscent of characters like Geralt from The Witcher games, or indeed even Garrett (to a slightly lesser extent, his games not usually having much narrative choice) from the (original) Thief series.
Other than dwelling on the narrative, however, it's still a bang-up game. I loooove all of the tiny references to the original Thief games! They always make me chuckle when I see them X3

I wanna say there was one more I'd come across, but I can't think of it now. These are just some of the ones I like the most

^ Are you reading this Exhum? Haha, yeah just wait until the second DLC which felt like it goes into full on Thief mode in the second half. I'll say no more, but the plot/levels and new enemy types were like straight up from Thief 1.
The way Daud has a menu based "shop" before each mission was a funny thing too, maybe another intentional nod.
I totally agree though dude, Daud having a voice was great and I didn't even realize it until midway in or something. I had the same reaction too, I think Corvo having a voice now will be just fine and work pretty well. Daud definitely gave me Garrett vibes and well, with Stephen Russell voicing Corvo... yeah.
200% faith in Arkane by this point. I think they know exactly what they're doing.
I think it's safe to say you'll love the rest of the DLC's. And the way it blends into the main story and events is amazing. Definitely some of the best DLC out there. Both of them combined are basically another full game worth.

Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
I'm torn between saying this is an homage or whether this was just a convenient mechanic to steal because of how Daud's narrative was constructed. I think it may be a little bit of both, to be honest: I think it would've been too difficult to write in a reason for Daud to have a hub area like Corvo does, so they went with a menu system that they knew already worked.Xeogred wrote:The way Daud has a menu based "shop" before each mission was a funny thing too, maybe another intentional nod.
