30 Rare games sounds awesome. The pirate game looks intriguing as well.
I am a bit hesitant on the pirate game. It is another, "In a perfect world," style game. In a perfect world, this game sounds absolutely amazing, but in the real world, people abuse the system and find tricks and workarounds and glitches to get what they want and things become a hassle and tedious for real players trying to play by the rules. It is tough to find a heavily focused multi-player that is spot on, with little cheating, few glitches and abuses to the system.

It will be curious to see how it plays out.

Yep, so what you are seeing is a digital marketplace for 360 games as well as unlocking the game for free by putting in the disc and downloading it for free...Makes me wonder how that affects people who rent video games? Will it just require the disc to be put in to play?
That seems the easiest implementation. It's basically the late 90's PC model at that point only you download from the internet rather than install from the disk.

By the way, Recore? I'm intrigued by the talent being used for it. But they missed a golden opportunity in the trailer. She puts the core in the giant robot, then she should have said "You're the man now, dog".

Also, only 100 games will be backwards compatible, so I am curious to see how this plays out. When people think, "Oh the system is backwards compatible," the answer is, kind of.
It's more or less looking like the same thing the 360 did to play oXBox games, as that has to download information to make each game work too (why it requires a HDD for the feature). But, yeah, it'll get that data and then require the disc in the drive to play.

I agree, that is most likely how it will work out, but I do not think that, at the end of the oXBox's lifespan, all the games on the 360 will be available to play.

How will future generations enjoy Bomberman Act Zero or Ride To Hell Retribution? Answer me that, Microsoft!

Well, Ride to Hell is on PC and PS3 as well...

Either way, it's preferable to proving you own the game so you can stream it or whatnot. What I don't think has been said yet is if they'll be enhanced or not. Having a subset of 360 games that kinda-sorta run would be one thing. Having a bunch that get upgraded resolution and framerate would be a real plus.

I had a post, but I felt it was too rant-ish. I got too riled up thinking about the digital landscape. The whole idea of getting digital copies from physical ones you own is great, I just know that it'll be screwed up. Because at the end of the day, consumers aren't viewed as some symbiotic requirement for business, they're viewed as a resource that can be used and replaced. As a result, the only models we see look less like cultivation and more like gouging.

Anyway, the conference.

Microsoft showed Hololens for real, and I liked what I saw. It's a neat device, I hope it gets hacked so it can be used for something useful. (Tabletop simulator with it at an actual table would be fabulous.)

Cuphead still looks great. I really want to play it.

Tomb Raider looks good. Feels a bit more fresh. Sequels in snow are usually a good thing.

They showed a lot of other games that I really couldn't care less about.

The games Microsoft showed off are just more of the same for their own fans. And I guess that's fine, but I don't know. I've always felt that most of what Microsoft puts out, the Halo, Gears, and Fable felt like really decent ... non essential side catalog games that you could play while you wait for the stellar games to come along. And they didn't do anything to change my mind on that.
(con't)
Granted, Halo 5, to me, looked better than other Halo games. I've never been a fan of how those games work, and something that plays a bit more like ODST or Destiny (which is how it seemed) would be more palatable to me.

Gears 4 looked interesting ... but seemed just like the other four, which are, ultimately, passable experiences. They're less landmarks and more time fillers.

None of this is going to make me buy an Xbox One. Not that there's a chance of me buying one new. But it doesn't even make me desire to own the system. The 360, I did actually want to own for several years before I found one. I don't see any of that with the games being offered on XBO.
Did we really need to see a car drop down from the ceiling for Forza?
(con't)
I mean, I get it, it's the new GT that's going to race, but .... Forza isn't some mysterious rare gem any longer, we're getting them almost annually now.

The pirates game from Rare ... I just don't care. I really don't. Rare hasn't held sway for myself since the last Century. To top it off, Pirates do nothing for me. I've never particularly cared for the motif. If people like it, and they're looking forward to this, and it turns out to be great and wonderful, then that is fantastic and I'm totally happy for those people ... but I just don't care.
I really hope other publishers really bring stuff out ... because if all we're looking forward to are sequels that just go a little further, I'm really having doubts about this generation of games. As much as I enjoy Wii U, I think I'd include it in that category (a handful of titles withstanding, of course.)

The Halo 5 trailer did nothing for me. I don't think 343 has the magic Bungie had previously with the series, I really can't say I was a fan of 4 and this looks like it's heading more in that weird direction that just... doesn't seem very Halo-like.

Recore looks legit.
