Was sick yesterday. Spent the day in bed with movie channels. 3 random and fairly terrible movies.
Superman vs. The Elite - A DC animated feature and the best of the movies I saw. Nothing earth shattering but a good Superman movie which really shows him as the moral iconic hero he is. Interesting aside: Vietnamese TV loves to censor swearing so hearing the British bad guy in this repeatedly call people wankers was pretty shocking.
Gulliver's Travels - A pretty terrible update on the classic story with Jack Black and a cast of fairly good British comedians... but the film is awful. Black is unlikable, the plot is paper thin and you really just don't care. I'm not sure what age group this was aimed at.
Tommorowland - there's a big secret running through this film that the filmmakers don't feel you need to know. Clooney is great as usual, but there are long sections when the focus is elsewhere and the film suffers badly for it. I didn't really get the movie to be entirely honest.

I like 2 a lot as well. I watched it a bunch when I was younger.MrPopo wrote:Them's fightin words. 2 was awesome.Xeogred wrote:I still need to see that one. Can't be worse than 2...

There's nothing wrong with Predator 2. Sure, it was made during the transition into the 90s, but that shouldn't be held against it.
I didn't care too much for Predators, personally. Not that it's bad or anything, it's a better movie than Predator 2.
But Predator 2 isn't bad.

I actually liked Predators about the same as Predator 2. While Predator is still the best in my opinion, both of the ones I just mentioned were pretty good. I also enjoyed AvP2. But AvP? Where 1 alien takes out a bunch of predators and humans? Yeah, screw that.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
ok, as far as movies with "Predator" in the title, I'd rank em like this...
1. Predator
2. Predators
3. Predator 2
4. AVP2
5. AVP
...but I'd say that #3 and #4 are about tied in my book, and AVP isn't horrible. It's certainly entertaining/enjoyable enough for its run-time.

You guys seem to not realize that Predator 2 has Bill Paxton in it. That automatically elevates it above everything but the first one.

I had it on and everybody wanted it changed. It has expensive visuals but it was quite boring it its intent were to be family entertainment.flash1987 wrote: Tommorowland - there's a big secret running through this film that the filmmakers don't feel you need to know. Picked up Chappie at the pawns the other day for $3.33 on Bluray thanks to B2G1. Just finished it and I have to say it was really good. I figured it was going to be District 9 with Robots which it does have the same feel due to the overly shitty version of Africa that it's set in, but the story itself is really good. I really didn't expect to like the "gangstas" that Chappie ends up with and for the first half of the movie I really cringed during the scenes with them, but eventually their characters developed really well through their interactions with Chappie. The ending also really surprised the hell out of me. I totally wasn't expecting it to go down that way and it's nice to be surprised for once.
It's definitely my favorite Neill Blomkamp film so far.
One thing I found funny about the movie was Sigourney Weaver's character which didn't really serve much of a purpose. She didn't really do much other then a few brief lines and a lot of sitting in her office honestly casting Weaver seems like it would have been a massive waste of money.
