Horrrribly misjudged my finances for the first time in forever. I've really gotta rein in my spending, I enjoyed it when I had $0 balance on my credit card. I don't carry a large one these days, but I want to go back to none. Gonna take a month or two to get there, fortunately I have a 3 paycheck month... either June or July, I forget.
But yeah. I paid a large chunk of my cc bill, which meant I was cutting my bank balance kinda close, but I get paid in a couple days. Then my internet bill comes and apparently I spaced out and didn't pay them last month (whoops -- happens to one bill like once a year with me. I should REALLY just make them ALL auto pay but I'm not that confident in my money managing yet). No big deal, I pay that. Then I wake up to my lawn being cut -- a neighbor guy takes care of it for me since I work overnights, real nice guy, works cheap, and he's kinda down on his luck veteran type so I like having him do what I need done because I feel like I'm helping him out. I give him a ring, ask if he's strapped or not (he's usually okay floating me a day or two, but I know sometimes he's also broke as a joke) and he says he's actually really strapped, so I get the cash to pay him. BUT, my car payment (which is one of those auto-debiting things) hits on Wednesday. I get paid... Thursday. Whomp whomp. This is going to leave me a whole $1.87 short of covering the car payment.
So Monday I get to tuck my tail between my legs and go in with the $5 in quarters I usually keep in my car for tolls on the highway and deposit it into my bank account so it doesn't overdraft.
I... feel like a big dummy. Hopefully this will make me stop being stupid with spending for a couple months, this is honestly unlike me, until I started my house remodel about a year ago (and started seeing a girl who's a couple hours away so hooray gas money) I always kept a good $1k or so in my checking account, was a month ahead in my mortage, paid bills as soon as they came in (none of this "wait for the due date" nonsense I've been doing lately)... I need to get back to that.
