My girlfriend was the one who hooked me on SGnG. She's the type with the mentality of "if brute force doesn't work, that just means you're not using enough of it," so we'd play for hours and hours. I was beginning to fear for my old trusty SNES overheating or something. But we did eventually beat it. The whole game is just pattern recognition + specific feel. I've played it so much that I can get to the final boss in my sleep nowstrangenova wrote:Made it farther than i've ever been in Super Ghouls and Ghosts tonight...not that it's really that far. We had this game when I was growing up but I was terrible at it. This game really requires the patience of a saint.

Yeah it's definitely one of those learn and repeat type games. After a couple nights of playing I was able to easily get to the end of the fourth level without using a continue. I feel pretty good about that. I need to get back on it and finish it.SNESdrunk wrote:My girlfriend was the one who hooked me on SGnG. I played the heck out of that one growing up and finally replayed it last year, I can still beat it fairly easily. But it's almost like a shmup, if you get hit and lose your armor and good weapons, it might be game over haha. The weird double jump takes some getting used to as well. The level 5 music is worth the effort.

Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
I found the only hard bits of Super GnG were the platforming bit in the lava level ( which you just have to memorise) and beating the final level the second time around with the bracelet weapon, which sucks. Otherwise I find its difficulty to be rather exaggerated. I legitimately find all of the NES Mario games to be harder
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
I'm so grateful to own a everdrive for my system. It's not the one to where I can play Mario rpg or Mario kart but I'm happy. I have been neglecting my mini snes for a while. I have been feeling of playing some super punch out for a while now.
I want to ask because I'm curious of who has sold the snes games for an everdrive and at these prices who bought a new car selling they're snes games lol

Super EDF is one of the few shooters I really like on the SNES. The music is interesting and the leveling weapons are fun to play with.
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
That's one of those few shooters I've not played on SNES but always meant to and I'm not sure why I hadn't done so. I have a short list, recently added Prince of Persia due to a nice write up explaining and showing how it is NOT the PC game but adds quite a bit, changes elsewhere, making it special onto its own.
I'm thinking I need to dust off my unwillingness to explore old Nintendo over costs and see what might appeal that's off the beaten path since much of the ignored stuff is still down there in cost thankfully.

I'll agree. Super EDF adds 4 exclusive weapons found only in this port and not in the arcade original. I always thought the leveling up idea made the game rather unique.

Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
I like that when shooters run into that kind of thinking. Nothing complex, just simple layers. Like how Gradius would add another option if you clicked it again, or Gate of Thunder making the weapon a bit more beefy/wide spread with added power. It's a nice touch.
Maybe I really do need to just strongly re-evaluate my Sega presence, and going over the nintendo wikia site which lists all releases by region/year go over the SNES goodies and find stuff I never had or long ago did that hasn't gotten stupid in price and go for it.
