I have a soft spot for it honestly. I didn't get to play "II" and "III" back in the day, as my local toy store didn't have them. Instead, I was stuck with Mystic Quest. And for what it was, I had a good time with it.

...

Now a question for you RPG fans. Is there a quality RPG on PS2 that won't take 20+ hours to complete?

Okage: Shadow King perhaps? I don't recall exactly how long that one is though...

No.

I have pretty much every major RPG on the PS2 and I haven't completed any of them. They are all hella long.

that's one thing about RPG's man. I love the genre, but I just don't seem to have the time to commit to completing most of the ones made in the last couple generations. :?

I tend to do the same thing, JT. I start up a game, and love it. But even then it's rare I'd play it for over 10 hrs, as I just end up distracted by another game. It kind of sucks.

Yea, I stopped buying so many games so I could actually finish and get good at some of them. Since then I've finished Eternal Sonata, Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, Tales of Graces, and Disgaea 3. Much better.

I did the same thing Erik. Sometimes buying a bunch of games is the least "gamer" thing you could do, since it takes away from enjoying the individual games.

I have the same issue as Noise though, I can't get through such long RPGs. I started playing the ones I missed from the Genesis and Snes era, just because they at least seem to be under 40 hours.

Luckily, Earthbound isn't overly-complex story-wise, or I would have forgotten what was going on in the 3 day break I've had from it. That happens so often for me with rpgs. I get really into it, then don't get a chance to play for a few days, and completely forget what I was doing. Interest = lost

40 hours is where I start to lose it. Who are these people that enjoy 80 hour games?!

Yea. I don't know how I managed over 70 hours of Tales of Graces. Great battle system, but the story was pretty bad.

Near the end I just kept dropping the difficulty because I got tired of grinding on the highest difficulty...

Xenoblade? It all depends on what the game does to keep itself interesting. My 60 hours in Valkyrie Profile 2, and then the Seraphic Gate, felt like no time. But my 20 hours in Lunar: Silver Star Harmony felt really drawn out. Battle system and dungeon design was super boring.

Anyway, Dragon Quarter is a cool short PS2 RPG.
