So what have you guys been watching lately?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I've been watching Pompidou, a silent comedy by Matt Lucas. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.

Kind of a mix between The Three Stooges, Benny Hill and Mr. Bean in my opinion.

So the guy who plays Foggy is an atrocious actor.... The dinner scene at the end felt like something out of a 90s sitcom pilot. And of course we got a few agents of shield style throwaway lines that I suppose are meant to make you go "They referenced Avengers!!!' but are starting to feel forced.

The fight scenes were A+ though. They'd be up to par even in a Marvel feature. And there's definitely potential as the season goes on and the stakes go up.

I've been watching Death Parade, best anime I've seen in years. Strongly recommended provided you watch Death Billiards first.

I just finished the fifth season of Trailer Park Boys tonight also. Ginger ale and popcorn plus that show is always a good time.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

Re-watching SOA as my wife is watching it from the start. I think she's more a fan of the "man ass" than the story though.

Lots of naked man butts in that show.

Given how much people complain about naked boobs and lady butts on Game of Thrones, I guess you need shows like Sons of Anarchy to balance things out.

Two episodes into Daredevil now

The biggest surprise to me is that the show isn't everywhere and in your face when you pull up Netflix. It doesn't even come up under any of the different categories. I had to actually use the search function to find it, you'd think they'd want to make sure people are aware of the existence of their newest original series instead of having it hidden away.

I've read the Frank Miller Daredevil origin story, the show seems pretty faithful to it so far. It's definitely in the same mold as Nolan's Batman and CW's Arrow, but a bit darker and grittier like you'd expect from something on a cable network like HBO or a similar network to be.

The fights are very interesting, they feel a bit more realistic than most shows and movies of this ilk. I actually found it a bit odd at first, but I like it. The second episode has a great prolonged fight that I don't even know how to describe, but the way they filmed it was very, very cool. It sort of uses a tracking shot, and has a mix of action you see and action you don't see, it's particularly interesting given what we see throughout the rest of the episode, but I won't say more than that

The red head girl is cute as fuck, and I like Foggy. He has this kind of Jet Black-like charm.

This is definitely a show for people who are into this genre though, as I've not seen anything thus far to really make it feel different from the stuff I mentioned earlier beyond having more of a cable drama feel, but I like Batman-ish, super hero stuff and this one is done particularly well.

These are my kind of heroes, no super hero powers, just skill, determination, toughness and sheer will power. Also, looking at the credits, there's some really good creative talent behind this show, many of whom have comic book experience. Christos Cage is one of my favorite comic book writers at the moment for his ongoing work on the Buffy TVS and Angel & Faith comics and he's involved. The guy who directed Cabin in the Woods is working on this show too, so plenty of Joss Whedonites here, and other notable comic book people like Jeph Loeb and Joe Quesada.

EDIT: The show also bounces back and forth between the past and present like Arrow, which is nice because it allows us to get Daredevil's back story, while also getting to see him in the present doing super hero stuff. It's a nice compromise for people sick of comic book stuff focusing so much on origin stories.

So...Lip Synch Battle: The TV Show.

I sometimes enjoy Jimmy Fallon's lip synch sketches because they last for about three minutes and have little production value or rehearsal time. It's also unexpected.

This show on the other hand is hands down one of the worst things I've watched on tv in quite a while. Why not karaoke? The show features people who can sing, so why not have them sing?

Now if the show had some funny to it, I could see some appeal. Say having Ashlee Simpson lip synching her own song. But even that's stretching it. And who pointed a gun to Anne Hathaway's head to make an appearance on this nonsense?

I saw exactly one episode of Lip Sync Battle while channel surfing featuring The Rock against Jimmy Fallon. It was fun, mostly because both of them are very charismatic. Not a show I'd watch regularly though

So I've seen about 8 episodes of Daredevil now...in a row. Yeah, it's definitely hooked me in. Great show. Also, I don't know what kind of cameras they filmed this show with, but it looks a LOT better than a lot of other HD stuff I see on TV or Netflix. I'm not enough of a tech head to explain, but the show just has a certain clean, smooth look to it that is very noticeable.

Also, I LOVE the show's intro:

Only only show intro I love as much right now is iZombie's:

And I have to say again, Deborah Ann Woll is REALLY cute on this show

EDIT: Just realized the smooth motion setting was turned on my TV, guess that would explain that super smooth look I was talking about with this show.

Can't wait to have the time to watch this. Dudes I trust say "Best Marvel Show yet", and I believe them. The only complaint I've heard so far is that the Kingpin turns into a bit of a sadsack. but if the writing is as good as I've heard, who cares? There will be more villains, fights, humor, and daredevil being daredevil.

I'm inclined to agree. This is significantly better than Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or Agent Carter...and I LIKE those shows.

And if Arrow/Flash are what many people consider the high bar for comic book shows right now, I think Daredevil surpasses them

Daredevil is what a comic book show would feel like on a network like FX, AMC, HBO, etc. and I really like that.
