Their reviews, articles, and top game picks would dispute this... They usually do not score madden all that high. This is assumed by some people just because a subscription is packaged with the rewards card.

In fact they praised okami, which wasnt a big seller. Several reviewers also had indi game fez in their top 10 lists for the year.

I am not a big GI fan or lover, but these claims are never backed up by anything substantial. They seem right in line with most other broad and mainstream gaming media.

Your sensibility has no place in this thread.

That said, I liked when this thread was just simply a place to rag on Gamestop and point out the ways that they DO suck, becasue they DO suck sometimes. Remember when CRTGAMER got the thread title changed? and talked to Gamestop corporate about it? That sucked. Now that the thread is phrased as a question (and has somewhat ruined discussion of one my favorite movies by making me think of this thread when I hear its mention) there's a lot more stupid bickering/defending going on. A thread discussing the ways in which it sucked was far better and to the point and served a purpose as a place to vent about actual problems people encountered. Now we post sales, finds, stories of good experiences, etc. and it seems like such a boring pointless thread.

Game Informer has had some really solid issues this past year. They are hardly a shill rag for GameStop. Harmless stuff. I don't fault them for aligning themselves with GameStop. Tough to survive in the print world.

Agreed.

I usually avoid this thread now because instead of it being a collective "man, GS really does some goofy shit sometimes" rant thread, it's pretty much a guarantee whatever you say will be met with opposition and if anything is now more argumentative.

The last thing a thread titled "Is Gamestop Evil? The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" needs are posts concerning the good, the bad, and the ugliness of gamestop?

Well kick me where the lord split me and call me confused.

I received a few GS giftcards for X-Mas, and I'm about to bring the collective balance to zero. Collector editions of Arkham City and Ninja Gaiden 3 will be mine by the end of the week.

The thread was originally titled "Gamestop is evil" until CRT went and got it changed.

I had a similar issue with GS over faulty pricing.

I went in to my local GS and bought ultimate shooting collection for the WII new and was opened sold as new and to "validate" the "new" tag they placed a circle sticker on the case.after being mildly annoyed by GS lack of respect for the customer, I bought Max Payne 3 Tag said used 17.99 i get to the counter and the air head clerk rings it up @ 29.99, I brought up the price difference only to hear him say "oh well it's a mistake thats a thanksgiving sale price". i bought the game at the higher price and left pissed

Got home popped in the game and guess what....DISK READ ERROR!!!
NOW I HAVE TO DRIVE BACK AND GET A NEW COPY!!!

Why did you buy it at all? If I found out it was suddenly $12 more I would have politely declined and walked out. Seriously people, gamestop isn't great, but it's hardly their fault if you abide by them when they screw up.

I think y'all are reading a different magazine than me or I had a subscription during a bad year. I read Game Informer during 2010-2011 and all I remember is huge (and dull) articles hyping COD, God of War, Gears, Madden, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, etc...

There were some articles on more obscure (and retro) stuff, but they were short, half-assed, and phoned-in.

Anyway, I didn't renew the subscription as there are much better magazines (not to mention websites) out there.
