SW:Force Awakens
Really I think it was handled very well about the same quality if not better then the last few Star Trek films. Saw the twists coming a mile away and pretty much every scene felt like a nod to the original, but the new characters were very nice and the sets and effects were great. Only thing I wish they would have done is explain some of the characters a little better for instance Snoke and Phasma barely get any attention.
Great ending even if it was a little predictable though and I look forward to the next two.
In the Heart of the Sea
It's okay nothing spectacular I was hoping for more Whale Hunting as opposed to floating around in life boats. Really pretty much all the interesting parts shown in the trailer happen in the span of about 5 minutes and then the film turns into a mediocre lost at sea survival film. Honestly Life of Pi and Outcast will give you a lot more bang for your buck.

Eh I'll probably still end up wathcing the "prequels" eventually but I did end up finding the big blue fox boxset of vhs's for the original trilogy awhile back at goodwill so there's that(before they started shipping off every last game to the grid). And we still do somehow, it was closed but someone reopened it thankfully ^_^

Fiddler On The Roof

Already own the Laser Disc and two disc Collectors Edition DVD set. My DVD disc would sometimes error out in the middle of the movie so was going to replace it. Fortunately the 2nd Special Features Disc is okay. I spotted this movie at a great price for the dual BluRay DVD package, even cheaper then the single DVD movie by itself!
A very good musical and great story. The Bluray dual edition DVD is identical to the two disc anamorphic movie DVD version with the same great commentary track with director Norman Jewison and lead actor Topo. The extra footage in the BluRay is identical to the DVD Special Features 2nd disc. The Special features has so much great information in the making of the movie, entertaining in itself. I placed both editions in a new four disc case.
I have watched this movie so many times over the years and still find it fresh. Even though based on a Jewish family, the concept of maintaining tradition vs change is universal for any culture. Every song well done though most movie reviews gave a negative on the Dream Sequence section. However, I thought it was done very well even if not conforming to the rest of the songs in its video presentation. I felt the "Broadway Play" approach of the song added to the dream affect.
The BluRay disc soundtrack is clear though a bit quiet compared to the opening United Artists logo and DVD version. You have to crank up the volume compared to other Bluray discs.
Very entertaining, Topo the perfect actor for the role who also appeared in the live audience west coast play. I wish there were a Special Feature Video section included of Zero Mostel in the official New York Broadway play for a comparison.

Oh yes, the great American clusterfuck aka the war on drugs. Love this kind of movies, Traffic is still the best, but this one is awesome as well. Oh and fuck drug users in the developed world for their inane selfishness.

So, your take away on the war on drugs is that it is the fault of drug addicts? Riveting.
Perhaps all that wasted money could be spent on treatment of the disease. You know, to actually make a difference. Of course we would be employing more people who work for lower wages to actually save lives, so there is a downside.

My Star Wars review:
It was OK.
Which means it was a thousand times better than any of the prequels.
The new characters were all great and Harrison Ford actually acts like he gives a damn which was one of my biggest worries.
I'm interested in seeing more, specifically in regards to the backstories of said new characters.
Nothing about it really blew my mind but I guess I've only ever been a casual Star Wars fan and my girlfriend, who is a Star Wars fanatic is still furious about the decanonization of the Expanded Universe so I have that to deal with.
I did have fun and it did feel like a Star Wars film so mission accomplished.
