Still playing stuff on the PSP, and just got my first 1CC of the year: Gaia Seed.
Pretty easy, actually. Went for the quick kill on the final boss. Apparently, there's another boss after that if you let the first final boss time out, but I thought I'd just finish it off since I was on my last life.
What shmup are you playing now?
Re: What shmup are you playing now?
Currently playing Wing Force, a 1993 arcade shmup that has recently been unearthed:

Just had one credit and made it to the final boss, so I suspect I should be able to clear the first loop soon

Cleared the first loop in Wing Force
.
Then followed that with the 3rd 1CC of the year: Super Galaxy Squadron.

It looks cool...it's not that great, though. Nice graphics, sound, smooth framerate, etc., but severely lacking in stage design and challenge. You have a health meter that starts at 100, and you can regain health from the frequent health pick-ups or just by bullet-grazing.
There's a hardcore mode, which you might think would be more arcade-esque, but in hardcore mode you only have one life...get hit once and it sends you back to the start of the level, with the same score you had when you entered the level. It's very dumb.

Sonic Wings Special - a sweet JP PSOne release that was made available on PSN for those in NA.
I enjoyed using the american guy with the parrot, plus they give you 9 credits to start!

Actually, I had a look on the Steam forum for Super Galaxy Squadron and the devs have made a free beta for SGS-Ex available for anyone who owns the original; it looks like they're tweaking various aspects of it and improving on a lot of the things I mentioned, so I might be able to recommend it after all. Only two levels of the Beta available right now, but it's good to see they're working on making it better.

I'm hoping they finish it up soon as they have stated in the discussion area that alot of the stuff they were going to implement will NOT be put into the game. Here's to hoping they finish what they started.

Picked up King's Knight for NES today. Oh my lord what a shitty game.
(Like Hydlide, the game also has those funny shaped pins which means it only boots successfully in my Retron 5 like 10% of the time. Lame.)

4th 1CC of the year! This time it was Satazius, although only on Easy difficulty; it has recently had achievements and leaderboards added to the Steam version, so if you've played it before then now's a good time to go back to it.
I hadn't put much time into it before. I think I'd only seen as far as Stage 3. It didn't take much effort to clear it, though, I cleared Stages 5 and 6 blind. I'm currently 7th in the global leaderboard with 1,015,265 (well, 6th actually, because the #1 score is clearly bogus).
