Lolcats are so old, and KYM has changed from being a great meme catalog to ponyville. That's why I switched to 9gag; KYM was becoming useless (unless your goal is to see how many MLP fan pictures are out there).
And if 4chan is the mouth, it's a mouth with rotten teeth and incredibly bad breath.
You do realize that all the MLP stuff is only in a sub-site of Memebase, which in itself is a sub-site of Cheezburger? It hasn't exactly dominated the network. Furthermore, what the hell do you really have against MLP, anyway? I have heard you railing against it ever since you heard of it, and when I do ask, you always have some lame excuse like "I refuse to watch anything made in Flash" or something. Is it so hard to accept that a fanbase exists for a popular show, and that they would want to make their own content around it? Maybe it's time to consider that there may be many good reasons why the show is popular. It is certainly more likely than every single person in the fandom enjoying it ironically.
I realize it hasn't dominated the network, but is has dominated KYM (the only part I ever liked). The main thing I have against the show is that I used to like that site a lot. I'd go to the images section, and look through the new stuff for laughs. But for the past several months, it's filled with 2/3rds ponies. Most of which isn't even funny, it's more like regular fan art. If they'd put that stuff on fan art sites where it belongs, I wouldn't care, but no.
Think of a kid's show you just don't like. Now imagine half of Racketboy becomes obsessed with it, constantly posting pictures of it and making threads about it. Wouldn't that annoy you a bit? Wouldn't you wish the old Racketboy would come back? That's what it's like for me with KYM.
But KYM is a site where user-submitted images and videos is the main means of interaction. It is expected. It didn't become the most popular meme on the site because just a devoted few people were submitting everything they could, trying to fudge the numbers for posterity's sake; it really is that popular. And is it really reasonable to blame a show for being popular?
Also, I'm curious if you have ever seen an episode of the show at all. If you have seen it, then your opinion would carry a lot more weight.

But memes are supposed to be amusing, not just fan art! If they stuck to funny stuff, I wouldn't really care if it was MLP or not... but they don't. I just went to KYM's Image page a few minutes ago to check again, to make sure. And yep: three images right near the top were humanized versions of Twilight Sparkle. Not intended to entertain in the slightest, merely misplaced Deviantart material.

No, but if it will make that big a difference in the weight of my opinion I'll watch one tonight. I'll let you know how my opinion has/hasn't changed afterwards. And yes, I know not to watch the first two episodes as they are not representative of the series as a whole.

Well, then that is a problem, now isn't it? People should just have the good sense to only upload actual memes to KYM. I know that there are a couple people that go through and report the irrelevant stuff, but maybe I should contact the page moderator about this...

I recommend this one:
And hey, if you end up liking it, then those memes won't be so annoying anymore.
lisalover it is quite possible that you are a genius.
Hmm, maybe I should link this badass figurine I got yesterday?
