RT: I don't know how you comic book guys buy stuff. How do you keep it straight? I feel like any time I look into checking out stuff I'm into (TMNT, Alien/Predator, etc) I have no idea where to start. There's always collections of series but I have trouble piecing together like what order stuff goes in. It seems difficult to avoid overlap or really know the order of release on various series.

Semi-related: I recently found a graphic novelization of The Secret Of The Ooze.

I'm not talking about individual comic books, but rather when entire series are collected. So the entire run (say issues 1-18 or whatever) are a single book. Yet those books are generally not called "Awesome Comic Collection #1" they are called like "Awesome Comic: Regeneration," "Awesome Comic: Dead Of Night," or other things that make it confusing of which series came before others unless you do thorough research ahead of time.

Actually I just saw a new Ninja Turtles one that Eastman co-created and I'm pretty sure it was just called "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1." But if you don't know what you're getting into, you might assume that is the original 80's comic, not a brand new one. Y'know?

Well...as a comics fan, this is pretty much what you have to do. Most of those collections are for following specific story arcs or offshoots, so it's a good idea to do some research to figure out which arcs most interest you. Knowing things like publication period, writers and artists, and publisher will also help drastically.

Speaking of which, are you interested in the Mirage run of TMNT, the Archie run, the IDW run, Dreamwave, the manga, the dailies, or what?

yup.

But to be more specific, I've only ever read the Mirage stuff when I was a kid. I had a collection then of the first 10 or 20 issues. It was awesome. I'm definitely more interested in the Mirage stuff, and I think the IDW stuff looks cool. But I think I'm more likely to just pick up any cheap collections I happen to find. I'm actually in the middle (or rather, early on) of watching the 80's/90's cartoon run right now. I have one episode left of Season 2, and already have Season 3 sitting on my shelf ready to go.

Alien/Predator comics seem even more confusing. There's Alien, Predator, AVP, Archie Vs Predator, etc. There's a series of I believe four books called Fire Stone that I think looks really cool with one book focused on Aliens; Predator; AVP; and Prometheus. Would be cool if those got collected together, though. More or less, I'm interested in these as I've been re-watching the entire run of Alien/Predator movies with my wife and we only have Prometheus left. (Though I kind of plan to dig into the mockbusters after that).

Anyway, I'm not a big comic guy. I was into Marvel in my early teens. But now I'm more just like if I happen to see something cheap that I'm heavily interested in (totally not superheroes) then I'd be somewhat interested in checking it out. I can't honestly think I'd devote that much free time to reading comics though as gaming, movies, etc would take precedent.

two different ones. Yeah. I am super excited. Rocksteady and Bebop look awesome. F'ing Krang is in this movie. And *maybe* MAYBE we'll see Stockman turn into a fly? That last part might be wishful thinking. But seriously, this looks really good to me. I've wanted Krang in a live action movie since TMNT II was released.

I'm not talking about the movie...I am talking about the new VIDEO game from Platinum Games and Activision.

ugh, my bad hahaha. That's not even the movie title. But yeah, I did see that and I'm extremely excited at the prospect of Platinum developing a TMNT game. The art style looks fantastic.

I've got it pre-ordered. Between the gameplay in the two Bayonetta games and Wonderful 101 and my love of the TMNT IP, I'm SUPER hyped.
