Is anyone having any luck with the Final Fantasy VI Advance sound restoration patch? I can't seem to get it to load. Changing the header option does not fix it either. I'm currently trying to find a different patch from the one on romhacking.net.

*update* Bummer, after more research it appears the patch is only good for the European version. booooooooooooo

Anyone have their Retron 5 freeze?

It's complete balls. Only frozen on me twice (while playing US Chrono Trigger no patches or anything), but the system doesn't actually like, hard save your game until it shuts down. So even if you save your game repeatedly, freezing causes all progress lost since you had it turned on. I lost almost 2 hours of progress because of it.

I've never had it happen, but I also don't know what version you're on because maybe that one firmware has a bug? I haven't stress tested whatever the last version was I threw on mine as I've been off console gaming for months now doing pc+handheld stuff.

:?

After 10 months of heavy use, my fragile original-model Retron 5 is toast.

Are the ones in stock on Amazon the newer more durable version? If not, where would I go about getting one?

This is my most-played system these days; I really wish I had held out for that initial hardware revision.

Yeah the black ones are the newer ones.

Well that just confused me more.

Mine is black, but is certainly one of the older ones. Cheap plastic, crappy cart slots. I pre-ordered it before launch.

Amazon only has gray in stock.

I'm trying my best to avoid ordering old stock of the original model; I don't want these problems occurring again.

The black one I purchased from amazon a month or two ago was the newer model so I would say they have depleted their inventory of old stock at least for that color.

Is it generally safe to assume that any Retron 5 consoles shipping from Amazon now are the new models?

Well I bought another one. Pretty sad/hilarious to see Amazon tell me I had previously purchased another R5 in April 2014.

Here's a question (that has probably already been answered) but if I put a powerbase converter in the Retron 5 to play SMS games, does it also upscale them/have quick saves/etc?
