Posting just to remind myself to watch this tomorrow.
Re: Sega Saturn Games - HIDDEN GEMS
Another nice video, MJ. There's definitely a few games there I'm gonna have to try out! I would have never figured that was a pinball game.
One thing that I'd like to note, that I always like to note, about the expansion carts...
There's also a GameShark for the Saturn, but DO NOT use it! The GameShark is kinda like the Action Replay, but not as good. It allows you to use cheat codes, boot imports, and you can transfer saves from the console to the cart and vise versa. It doesn't have the extra 1MB/4MB RAM to play games that require it. So right there, the Action Replay is the better device.
But the real reason why you don't want to use it is because it'll mess up your cart slot. The Saturn's cart slot isn't very robust. The GameShark's PCB is a little too thick, and using it will mess up your cart slot. When I first got my model 2 Saturn, the cart slot worked perfectly. I used an official Sega backup cart and never had any problems. With my first import game, I got the GameShark. Ever since then, I have problems getting the console to detect a cart when inserted. Luckily I found out what the GameShark was doing and stopped using it before it messed up the cart slot even further. I got rid of the GameShark and got myself an Action Replay. So for me, the proof is in the pudding.
Anyways, there's another great method for playing imports, but it's only for the more tech savvy. Some one was nice enough to hack the Saturn BIOS and remove the region check, essentially making the console region free without any switches or anything. You just have to replace the BIOS chip, which isn't an easy task for a beginner. It's a surface mounted ROM, so you have to have the necessary skills to remove and replace such a component. Also, Sega glued the chip to the motherboard, and you have to remove it without damaging anything.
There's also the "swap trick" but I don't recommend it. I never recommend anything that could cause unneeded wear and tear or damage.

Very interesting game selection, looking forward to part 2! It would be nice to see a little tiny bit more game play footage for each game, but that's really a backhanded compliment. Feels like the video goes by too quickly.

As always, good video man. Don't forget a small mention to the game Dragon Force!

Re: Sega Saturn Games - HIDDEN GEMS
Are you offering to write some original music? The challenge is that because I monetize my videos, I would either need to officially license the music...or own the copyright to them. Kinda of a pain, but I gotta keep things legit or YT gets angryTSTR wrote: You ever want some new tunes for the show, let me know.

Totes. You can have the copyright. Least I could do for all the enjoyment I get from watching your vids. PM me on here for my email if you're interested.Metal Jesus wrote:Are you offering to write some original music? But you can't change your theme song, love that.
