Nope! DG5:TSF had no development involvement from its original creators, Technos. The game was a development of a subsidiary studio for Tradewest, it's US publisher. This game along with its Genesis/Megadrive and Jaguar ports have no relation (other than name) to the Neo Geo fighter made a year later by Technos. Additionally, The game box art says it all. DG5:TSF clearly promotes being based off of the "Hit TV Series", whereas the Neo Geo Fighter is based off the live action movie.
Try and buy from US or JP sellers where possible, in the brief time i've been following, games originating from euro zone countries seem to be about 15% higher (largely due to French collectors).
A copy of Garou just sold for 500Euro within minutes of listing, about $100 more than it sells for in the US or JP.
Well my main plan is to pick up AES games that are cheap and good, and then get an MVS converter for some of the bigget ticket games (i.e. Mark of the Wolves, all the Metal Slug games, etc). I know I probably should've picked up a CMVS but I really like how sleek the AES is and I've invested too much time into it (it's got S-vid, power LED and a Unibios) to get rid of it.
Own: 2600, 2DS, 2DS XL, 360 S, 5200, 7800, 800, 800XL, AES, Amiga 600, C64, C64C, CV, DC, Duo-R, GB, GBA, GBA SP, GBC, GBP, Genesis 2, GG, JP SMS, Lynx, Mark III, Mega CD II, MD, MSX2+, N64, NES, NES top loader, Nomad, PCE, PSX, PS2, RetroUSB AVS, SAT, SFC, SG-1000 II, SMS, SNES mini, Switch, TE, Twin Fami, VIC-20, Wii, XEGS
I def. understand that - just keep in mind a good converter will run you $200 and like I told bonesnap earlier, you could sell your AES and with the proceeds from that and what you would spend on a converter, you could get a high-end CMVS (the Omega ones are spitting image of the AES consoles).
If you've done all the mods yrself though, I can def. understand wanting to keep it.
I finally got my PSX to Neo converter in from good ol' Hong Kong so I was able to fully test out my NGCD that I replaced the laser into. At first it would not boot up the game, giving an I/O error, I felt defeated for a minute, then I read that the code I got was for a dirty disc, and I looked at the bottom of the disc (which was a burn from my first NGCD) and holy crap it was scratched and dirty! A quick clean and it booted right up! Now its working like a champ.

Good stuff, man! Glad to hear everything's in working order.
