Wow, that's some thin skin. I can sort of see the moron/bigots comments as being offensive in a general sense, but I sort of read them as:

"all bigots vote for this act"
BUT
"not everyone who votes for this act is necessarily a bigot"

So now trying to spark further discussion and debate in reply to someone who was already engaged in the discussion is somehow accusing them of ignorance and redneckery?

Nobody said those things because you believe marriage is between a man and a woman. They said them about people who would take steps to deprive someone of marriage, just because it doesn't fit with their beliefs.

Also, to me, "redneck" is more or less a slang/offensive word to describe someone whose "rural". If someone calls someone rural, it feels like a spin on saying "redneck". Otherwise, what exactly does "rural" mean?

No, I wasn't clear, sorry. The point of quoting that post up was to show people haven't been the friendliest to those on the other side of the political spectrum in this thread. Your post seemed to have the air of "I'm right. You're wrong. End of discussion." But maybe that wasn't the intent.

To further be clear, I'm not upset here, I just think this thread has been harsher than it needed to be.

It seemed to me that Valkyrie-Favor was dragging up an argument that we had just had (about the Bible) without even having had the courtesy to read over it/respond to it. So yeah, I was short with him in my reply and didn't want to elaborate all over again.

This thread has been remarkedly calm so far. It has had a few close calls and it teetering at the edge again. But I'm surprised it's been civil enough, if heated in opinions, to survive this long.

Create a thread in defense of FFVIII and you'll get it.
