(Welcome to RB~)

Of course emus aren't the same; but on the Wii with a SNES controller, it's pretty damn close. :D

Just to recap, I didn't have the problem on the CRT I tested, only my plasma.

My further tests suggest it was there, just not visible due to the gain on your CRTs inputs. It was probably also there with the O.G. SNES on your plasma, but these older models output a significantly darker and weaker signal, probably putting the line below the threshold of the analog to digital converter in the plasma.

my vertical line is there at loading but i believe it disappears after that and inst visible even on black screens. I think it goes away after graphics are displayed.

Edit: its still there in black screens but very very hard to see and cannot be seen when graphics are on. this test was on crt tv

Just hooked it up to my lcd/led Panasonic 42 hd tv with composite and i don't see the black line at all anymore not sure if its the filtering options the tv has ill play with them see if i can produce the vertical line.

Incidentally im getting a component mod done to my turbo duo rx and the guy asked me if my y input on tv would show composite graphics in black and white and it does. Not sure if this means my tv is pretty good or not for this stuff.

sigh im mistaken i see a faint vertical line on my hd tv now if i play phalanx on the first stage. Its a purple background and the purple is very slightly discolored. I wish someone from nintendo who worked on the consoles when people sent them to get fixed would speak up on how to fix it.

Short of processing the image which will also degrade it, there may not be an easy way to 'fix' it. It didn't happen on testing on my CRT, It seems to pretty much be an ED/HD TV issue. Since it wasn't an issue back when the console was current, it wasn't anything to worry about.

I remember seeing it on my CRT back in the 90s with Super Metroid. I always assumed it was a problem just with that game, since I didn't see it on any other game at the time..

Old thread but still relevant, so I'll bump it.

Apparently the Super Famicom is less susceptible to this vertical line problem.
Tested on my Sony Trinitron with Brightness at max where blacks now are almost grey,, no vertical line visible at all on completely black screen from 240p suit.

Edit:
I might be wrong as some people say they can't see vertical line at all on their American SNES, buy have strong line on their SFC.
Maybe some specific motherboard revisions don't exhibit this problem?
