That too! Man, I haven't had chicken and waffles in years. Truth be told, good sausage gravy trumps them all for me.

Mussels tonight, steamed in white wine and served over linguine with a cream sauce.

Looking forward to it as lunch is a banana and a can of V-8 .

Two items to discuss.

Went to the farmer's market yesterday and purchased a couple pounds of locally caught, head on jumbo shrimp. I had an ice filled cooler, placed the shrimp in and brought them home. I soaked them in coconut milk (whole, low fat isn't the same) along with a few freshly sliced jalapenos, torn cilantro, and crushed red pepper.

Broiled them for about six minutes, served with a mango salad. My wife wasn't keen on slurping out the shrimp "brains", so I got all the heads and they were delicious. I'm not big on shrimp (ho ho) but this is something I look forward to eating again.

And, guy feiri opened up a soon to be defunct restaurant:

I will never, ever get the guy's appeal. He's like the uncle who tries too hard to be cool and still says things like "bling bling" and "ginourmous". His recipes stink and are unoriginal, I find him physically off putting, and he has no actual style of cooking. Not surprisingly, his restaurant also bites, not in the good way.

Looks like after tax and tip, a sub-par burger and a Miller High life will run one person around $25usd. And you'll have to wait in line for that. And you'll have to listen to guy's voice the entire time as well. No thanks.

Sometimes you forget the classics.

Every Sunday I check out the weekly circulars and create a weekly menu based on what is on sale. Once in a while I'll go to the Fresh Market or the local Farmer's Market, but our diet usually consists of a lot of vegetables, salmon, and chicken. Boring, I know, but cost and nutritionally effective.

Traveled over the weekend, so I didn't have time to go shopping as I usually do. I did however glance over my personal recipe book and noticed I haven't had some of my favorite dishes in years:

Pork chops and apple sauce
Homemade tomato soup with grilled cheese
Chicken sandwiches with sprouts and tomato
Rye bread strata
Veggie soup with barley

This week, I feast.
