I know right! There is nothing about that game I can dislike, no matter how hard I look. You are going to be set for a while with that gem.
What shmup are you playing now?

Silpheed The Lost Planet (PS2) which I think is better than most reviews seem to say -- although I was furious to find that it doesn't support arcade sticks. What kind of shmup doesn't support arcade sticks???
Re: What shmup are you playing now?
It doesn't? Does it have something to do with only having a digital input option or something? I've never tried my copy with a stick.noiseredux wrote:Silpheed The Lost Planet (PS2) which I think is better than most reviews seem to say -- although I was furious to find that it doesn't support arcade sticks. And yeah, it is a decent game - far better then it gets credit for.

yes it's because of the digital thing. If you plug in a stick it goes nuts as if you were holding a direction button constantly. You can't even navigate a menu. I even tried to use a dualshock to shut off the rumble, etc to see if that fixed it. Nope. Did some googling and found that it was the digital that was the problem. Sigh.dsheinem wrote:It doesn't? Just finished Darius Gaiden and G-Darius, on my Taito Legends 2 Collection for PS2. Incredible shoot em ups originally released on Saturn, and PSX respectively.
I'm in the middle of getting my butt handed to me over and over again for weeks on end in Lords of Thunder and Super Star Soldier on Wii Virtual console (both originally on TurboGrafx-16). Those games are brutally hard.

I'm not sure if it counts, but Square also developed King's Knight.noiseredux wrote:I just got it yesterday, and it melted my brain immediately. Amazing game. Unreal. I can't believe it's Square's ONLY shmup. Insane. I think it's great.Bradtemple87 wrote:

I suck at shmups but have really gotten into it lately so I'm playing the arcade versions of Raiden, R-type, and a little Donpachi. I tried out raiden on the snes and was surprised that its quite a bit easier.
I've been trying to find ways to buy these games I'm playing in Mame without paying collector prices. I found out that PS1 games played on my PS3 will work with my joystick so thats one way I could go about it.

Has anyone beaten Strike Gunner STG (SNES or SFC). This game seems so easy, but the boards are abhorently long...pm me if you've beaten it and have a secret, like permanent force field
