It always provides a laugh when a cashier asks "What the...what is this?" and you provide them with the sku.
I think you just cemented yourself as one-of-a-kind right there.

Ticked: I was upgrading my brother's PC a couple weeks ago and the RAM that I got was incompatible. I exchanged it for a different set of RAM, which came in the mail yesterday. I tried installing it to and... it is incompatible as well! I know both sets aren't DOA because I tested them in another PC. I'm getting pissed. Now I have to pay another 15% restocking fee to send this RAM back. Or, I'm heavily considering keeping the RAM and replacing the motherboard instead.

Smile: I woke up this morning and found an email from the HR lady at my new job. I didn't wanna say anything to jinks things, but it's official now. I'M HIRED!!! It's gonna feel REALLY good to go into work tomorrow and put my two weeks in. It's been a long time coming. I've been there for 9 and a half years now, and I've looked forward to this day for a long time.

I too worked in a restaurant and I went from washing dishes as my first job ever to being in charge of the kitchen and everyone in it anytime the owner wasn't inside in two or three months. It was kind of interesting being 18 and telling a 40 year old woman to do this or that for me. That does take work though; I've worked plenty of time off the clock to make sure everything was good to go before I left for the day.
I had to tell older people what to do all the time. For some reason we had a 60 year old woman start working there and she hated me telling her what to do and she was SOOOO slow. I hated dealing with her. Luckily she worked mornings and I was there at night, but our shifts overlapped by like an hour and it always sucked.

That's awesome, but a bit bittersweet (I would assume).

There's always that one person you worked with for years that you really never met. It's weird how work can dissociate some people.

Example: Rarely do I not wear creased slacks, pressed shirt, tie, or a suit. "My" graphic designer was a bit shocked when he learned my gaming habits. Sucked balls leaving some great people from my last job, and I make it a priority ti better know the new dudes I work beside.

That said. Some coworkers/people are weird-os. That guy who takes his lunch break smoking camels in his car while eating a tuna fish sandwich and drinking buttermilk...might not be worth chatting with.

There's a little bitterness, but it's 99% sweet. I can't lie, I'll miss that place to a certain degree. I mean, I've spent almost 10 years there starting from the age of 17. In a way, I grew up there. But the better years are already gone, that place isn't the same as it was ~5 years ago. The times that I'll miss are the times that are already gone, so there's no difference there.

Actually, a lot of my immediate co-workers over the years are now my friends outside of work. In fact, one of them invited me to be in his wedding party a few years ago when he was getting married (I accepted). Others I keep in touch with via text and hang out often with. But all of my co-workers-turned-friends have left the job already.

There's a few others that I'll miss for sure. But this place is 10 minutes from my house, and located around other places I frequent. I can drop in for visits whenever I want.

Knowing that I'm putting in my two weeks tomorrow, I've been smiling half the day. I've always joked that when I put my two weeks in that I wont be able to do it with a straight face. That I'd have an ear to ear grin. Well, I'm pretty sure that'll be the case tomorrow.

Jeez, I couldn't imagine drinking buttermilk straight. I mean, I know what it is. Buttermilk pancakes. Most of us only cook with it. Well yesterday morning there was no milk in the house. Just buttermilk and heavy cream. I know some one from Germany that told me they'd drink buttermilk straight in Germany. So I decided to put a splash of it in my coffee. Yuck. I had to dump the whole cup. I should've just put the heavy cream in it.

Unlike buttermilk.

Happy to hear it Ziggs. Best of luck to you, and may you never have the dreams of "going to old work" which I have all the time.

My dad used to live in Germany and picked up the habit and passed it on to his son. Love the stuff and it's great with some cracked black pepper as well. Just such a great tang.

Oh and gratz on the job buddy!

Smile: Mjmjr25 helping me out with some consolized arcade system knowledge. Has me thinking about picking up the hobby.

Frown: Started the hobby with an ebay search for arcade PCBs. Saw prices. Looking for new hobby.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
