Here, people used to call videogames "Atari" and then they started calling them "Playstation". Not sure if there was a time in between where they called it Nintendo.

When I was a kid, everyone called video games "Nintendo" regardless of who actually made the machine. My parents still call it all Nintendo.

This is my point.

Based on the Wii U thread though, he's probably looking at it more from the standpoint of library as a whole. For someone that doesn't have a gaming PC or 360, the PS3's library nets access to quite a lot that the Wii just plain doesn't have.
I don't disagree that if you're comparing what a PS3 offers in addition to a good PC and an array of other consoles, a Wii offers a lot. But just a Wii would have gaping holes with regard to game releases from the generation.

I just bought my son the xbox one for Christmas. He already has an xbox360 and a ton of games. I read somewhere online that if you played the xbox 360 games on xbox live through the xbox 360 console that you could download the games free onto the xbox one through Microsoft. Does anyone know if this is true?

I know they did this on the PS3>PS4, they might be doing it on 360>X1 for this specific game. I'd look into it, anyway!

Would depend on your local game store. Ask there. Generally though, no. AFAIK only Sony have offered that type of Cross-buy incentive with Final Fantasy XIV.
