Look, it's been swell, but the swelling's gone down.

The Guest (2014). It is from the director of You're Next, and it stars the lead from It Follows. I expected a solid horror film along the lines of Cape Fear or The Stepfather, but it was not what I was expecting...at...all. Rather, it is an excellent blend of some of my favorite films from the late-70s, 80s, and early 90s, and I loved every minute of it. As the AVClub wrote in its review, "Dumb fun is rarely this smartly delivered," and I highly, highly recommend it. (It is currently streaming on Netflix; so, those of you with the service can watch it instantly.)
watched it last night. Loved it.

Good! I'm glad you liked it. It is such a great amalgamation of great 80s cinema.

Yeah. It's like a thriller for 30 mins, action for 30 and slasher for 30. Genius!

The Guest was among my 2014 favourites. Top soundtrack too!

Here was a chance for Hollywood to make a fresh film but nothing about this rose above the level of popcorn entertainment.

on the verge of tears. Wes Craven, my favorite horror director of all time, has passed away.

For the longest time, before I really got into watching the variety of movies that I do now, there were only two directors that I could not only identify by name, but also easily identify the films they created, because they were some of my favorites. One was Spielberg, the other was Craven. Any time either of their names was mentioned, I took notice.

This is indeed a very sad blow.

I just saw this and was just looking for you on Steam before coming here. My condolences, dude - I know how much you love his work.
