‘Obama zombies’: Americans sign prankster’s petition to nuke Russia (VIDEO)

People are generally suggestible idiots, and I have very little doubt that this poll was deliberately doctored (despite the obvious clickbait headline).

388 people were murdered with guns in Chicago last year. Eh, it's Chicago.

9 people were murdered with a gun in Charleston yesterday. We need more gun control!

Seriously, what happened in Charleston yesterday happened 43 times over in Chicago last year. I hate how politicians and the media capitalize on these specific tragedies to forward their own agendas, when, if they really cared, they'd be focusing on the bigger picture. But no, sensationalism is the way to go.

I don't support gun control at all, in case my post seems to indicate that.

I don't think people who favour gun control are blasé about gun deaths in Chicago or ignore the overall picture.

And if one cannot complain when a mass shooting happens, when is one allowed to complain about gun culture? It's a silencing tactic to say that one can complain when it doesn't have any mediatic impact to do so and has to stay still when it makes the headlines.

I mean, last year there were 283 mass shootings in the US. Accussing those who favour gun controll of being sensationalistic and capitalizing on tragedy under those circumstances is silly, c'mon.

al sharpton and jesse jackson do the exact opposite of what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would have wanted them to do.

Fun facts:

jesse jackson lied about Luther dying in his arms.

jesse jackson flunked out of theology school, and his title of Reverend is strictly in an honorary sense. He didn't earn it.

Most people would have to google Rev. Abernathy when I mention his name.

I would like to see the Connecticut study performed with data from other states. Connecticut found a great combination of gun controls that don't deny owners access, but simply add some additional checks, and the results have so far turned out to be effective. Naturally, as with anything, the context is important. In some states those strategies may not work, but in others they very well might.

Goddamnit

Seriously, Goddamnit.

1) Too much murder in Chicago.

2) Something, anything, needs to be done about this constant violence.

3) "What you about?" usually means death.

4) Travesty.

I say these things because what I am about to post will rub people the wrong way.

What in the hell was a fifteen year old doing out near midnight in Chicago? The parents should have known better and the street light curfew should have been in place.

The kid didn't do anything wrong, and I'm not saying the parents did anything wrong other than not using common sense. But the parents should not be surprised or shocked given the territory.

People were also shocked when Roy got mauled, even though common sense tells you that someone is engaging in an inherently dangerous activity.

I wish common sense was more common. This stinks.

Some of my friends give me sh..."stuff" for always having my doors locked and alarm on even while at home. Doing so is smart and prevents a break in, so why not? And when I was a senior in high school my friends ragged on me because I had a 10pm curfew. But why not?

Kids in Chicago, and most adults, should not be out in the street right before or after midnight. Even in my little city of Greenville NC, a different "class" of people come out right before and after midnight. And by "class" I do not mean black. As Whodini (great band by the way) said, "The freaks come out at night". You can't let a fifteen year old kid out in Chicago, a city known for its murder rate, at night.

Of course I don't know the child who died, but I can't help but have a heavy heart for his family's loss. A kid died, and it could have been prevented as easy as saying "Come home before dark". Let's not kid ourselves, people kill other people in Chicago for sport and to "prove themselves". When you have a kid, you HAVE to protect them.

What I'm getting at is that this situation, time after time, makes me sad. It makes me a bit depressed. It also makes me angry that the only counter measure I can think of is self defense, which is also more violence.

There's a scene in BASKETBALL where the two main actors get into an intense argument and then settle it by repeating "Dude? Dude. Dude...". I wish we could stop altercations the same way.

I'm incredibly worried about the future of Greece and what it entails for Europe as a whole, specially with Cameron's dick waving and the inevitable hard-right turn of France right around the corner.

One of the reasons I've always been so hopeful about the EU is that I feel it's the rational conclusion for continental politics. The enterity of European history is an attempt by national leaders to put their country over others and failing, strife is penny wise and pound foolish and so it's not in anyone's interest to foment it.

Of course, the huge issue with this view is that it assumes the recent cadre of dumb, xenophobic idiots that have been voted into power care about rational choices, which they don't.
