Absolutely. I've heard all sorts of horror stories with the launch units, but mine has been working perfectly since day one. Plus, all the latest firmware, including the new version launched last week, have made it much better overall in terms of compatibility and features.

Having gone through the shit I did with my system, I've got it from enough evidence it is.
I had one from the day it came out, it began to dislike a couple NES games, and that created a saga of receiving 3 more systems until I got one that was the one I still have now.
System #2 was a defective system that was DOA. So they sent me #3, this one was a beat up used system and it too didn't like the same games. I started along with the tech who became friends with me giving them shit on both sides of the ocean (US office and HK office) and the asian side felt shame and hammered the US guys over it. Ultimately I was sent not my gray one, but a black system instead. This was around the time they just started to make on the line their 2nd model of the system when the price went up.
The newer ones anyone who has a decent cycle of equipment should be on now. The modern system they listened to the complaints of weak pin slots, overly tight pin slots, the very collapse worthy top part where the carts go in, various DOA (or soon after) issues and so on. The new one has brand new pins, durable, not overly tight, no more bending issues. The top is now as solid as the rest of the frame, not a sliver of bending. The ports on the side are better/stronger too and come with rubber dust caps on them. They're also installed with at least v1.5 of the firmware, when most of the game bugs (Nintendo side, and all save issues Nintendo side) were worked out.
The one you have now out works and works great, and with the firmware does an insane amount of stuff that wasn't even planned in the first place and more is to come. Just run the whole annoying SD card update thing for the latest emulation package firmware/beta and you're golden as they finally got the quickboot thing in and fixed the Sega problems.
I'm not too impressed with firmware 2.3, it's killed compatibility with a few of my SNES games that were previously being recognized just fine, and the bootup time saved isn't nearly as significant (about a half-second). Also, no more fast cartridge loading? The little progress bar was gone!
I rolled back to 2.0 BETA 6. It's gonna take a lot for me to move off that release

I thought they temporarily disabled it because it was causing Sega Genesis games and their save cheats to have a fit. I'd have to scroll back through some months of facebook bs to try and find it but there was a reason.
I probably have 2.0b6 on mine since it still fast loads and they had put the fast boot(power on) patch to that black one I ended up with so it's all fine for me as it stands thankfully. The more griping I keep seeing with this junk about that firmware or others I'm really not feeling a reason to tinker and then try and find the link to the old one again. I don't have any Sega junk so I'm really not feeling any motivation at all.
I thought there was a reason. I don't mind the boot times, honestly. They could have stopped at 2.0B6 and it's the perfect experience. But I want my fast cartridge loading. The difference is significant.

Funny I think I'm still pushing it on that release too but becauae I honestly haven't had a reason to upgrade yet because the last few times I've played it, the thing has worked flawlessly. I almost wonder what game that I have in my library that would really through it for a loop though...can't say I've found it yet...especially not since rewiring my setup with a new switch and surge protector

Which ones
Soldiers of Fortune (AKA Chaos Engine on your side of the world) & Super EDF, both worked fine on 2.0B6 but came up Unknown on 2.3

Well didn't know until I attempted it but apparently Quest for Camelot is a Super Gameboy compatible title(which is I'm not a big fan of the fact of it having the border but being in monochrome...would be better if it was in color with the border *sigh*)
