If you need to stick to sprites, though, the most comprehensive version is supposedly the PSP remake that comes bundled with The After Years. And it is pretty good, from the small amount of time I've put into it.

lol. Oh man. It's a bad fanfic most the time and a rehash the rest. I know a very small amount of people like it but overall it's pretty widely hated. Same bosses at IV. Same dungeons. The encounter rate makes Skies of Arcadia's non existent. Repeat some dungeons more than once and one of them 5 times.I honestly didn't know they made a 3D version so maybe they fixed some things but I played the 2D one on PSP/Wii and it's so bad...like really really bad. I'd rather play Mystic Quest or Watch Spirits Within again than replay After Years.

No, I meant FF4 in that collection is pretty good, not The After Years. I wasn't very clear with my wording.

Whew. Yeah FFIV is awesome on PSP. IV & V should always be brought up among the best in the series.

My barf bag was for the 3D FF4. Looks nasty. Never bothered with the FF3 one either and just emulated the NES game.

The new paint of coat for the PSP version of FF4 is pretty amazing, I love the style, still felt really classy. I wish FF5 got the same treatment or the first three.

I know the industry has maybe a few too many remakes. I still want one on modern consoles of VI & IX. 3D visuals but still top down/iso metric as the old ones. Not wanting FFVIIR. Whatever World of Final Fantasy runs on that looks good enough to me in terms of quality. (just not those designs..dear god they freak me out)

The best way to look at the 3D version is a long-lost PSX game. I thought it looked quite good in that context.

I haven't played Shenmue since 2004, and I suspect it has aged like milk, but it was jaw dropping when it came out. I think of it like a prehistoric ancestor to today's open world games such as GTA.

Thats amazing, how did you get a brand new Dreamcast for $15? Imagine being able to buy a brand new Wii U for $15!

You played Shenmue in 2003, thats 4 years after it was first released in late '99. To put things into perspective, it was released just 2 years after Goldeneye 64. Now this will blow anyone's mind!

This must be one of the most ironic and biggest business flops in business history. They went out of their way to make a proprietary optical media to avoid piracy only to end up with the only system in history that does not need modification to play burned games. I am sure the engineers knew about this.

My only guess is that they thought if they make it easy to pirate for they will sell more and gain huge market share quickly but it fired back big time. I must say, and I saw this first hand, PSX/2 sold like crazy because it could be modified. This resulted in some really interesting GTA-SA mods.

For the record, my backup Saturn was obtained for $5 years ago. It was "dead", but that really just meant I needed to do a pot tweak on it. Unfortunately, that means it might not last long with extended use, but that's just the way those kinds of purchases.

Shenmue in the US came out in 2000. I wish people would stop comparing GTA to Shenmue. They are completely different games. Pretty much nothing alike. May as well compare Rent a Hero No 1 on Dreamcast to GTA.
