I played a bit of my SFC version of Super Aleste (Space Megaforce on SNES) last night. I haven't played a lot of shooters but this one is already one of my favorites. I love the variety of weapons.

I actually really dislike pretty much every Compile shooter I've played... except Super Aleste. It really is top notch.

You MUST check out the various difficulty modes, makes the game playable for so long. It gives me a Recca/Garegga vibe, with how much crap the game can throw at you.

There's a Doujin game STGT starting on ShmupsForum this week. Today's the last day for sign-ups, in case anyone's interested.

I don't think the first game has been confirmed yet, but the choices were between: Blue Wish Resurrection Plus, ChoRenSha68k, Kaikan, XOP Black Ultra, or Uwabami Breakers.

Huh, it's pretty standard for a Compile game in my opinion (standard being I like it a lot) and only extraordinary as a SNES shmup. I imagine you'd at least like GunHed since it's pretty close to the same thing.

I might have to track that down.

The only Compile shmup I've played that I thought was pretty good is Robo Aleste on SCD.

Zanac is ok, but never really clicked with me. How is the PS1 Zanac?

Huh... Galaga '90 has vertical scrolling shump stages. Of course you can only move your ship left/right.

Been playing that and Cyber-Core this evening.

If you like Robo Aleste give Spriggan a shot.
