Even if the Sonic levels remain fun, despite their problems, they constitute such a small part of the game (though I enjoy Tails' levels too, actually). Like I said, I have a fondness for everything about the game... but even back in 1999, I loathed the Adventure segments (though I like them in theory). Ugh, all that running around looking for a cut-scene to trigger...Reprise wrote:I replayed Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 recently and I honestly think the Sonic stages (not the other garbage stages) hold up really well. The glitches and camera angles are no where near as bad as people make out (although it's worth pointing out that the DX version of the first game, originally on GameCube, seems to have more problems).
Also, whilst I appreciate that Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations are objectively superior games, I do really like that Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 have slower gameplay and are closer to the old school style and design. Also, some of the levels really do stand out, unlike Colors, which is fun, but I couldn't remember a single level from it if I tried.
Damn, now I feel like playing it! I really gotta get back on the series for my blog. Maybe sometime this week I'll finally get Sonic 3 out of the way.
Ah, but now you have to remind me about FFVII. I recently played through the PS4 version specifically for the purpose of writing about it... and nope, still haven't got to that yet either (very busy... being transferred and in the middle of a move).
