Is it a bad thing that I thoroughly enjoyed the two RE1 callbacks in the first chapter of RER2? Claire Sandwich was especially good thanks to Moira's reaction.

You can tell that every one of Barry's friends has brought it up around Moira. Massive "daaaad" moment.

It's little touches like that that will put a game on a higher tier for long-time fans of the series. Casual or new players may be like "Wow, that's fucking stupid," but those of us who have been playing the games for 10 and 15 years will love it for those little nods.

I know you guys all hate RE5, but as a fan it looks like the PS4/XO port isn't that great.

The perspective change (they note it's an option) is pretty weird. You can tell that was not the original design, because watching Chris' legs in action during movement is about as awkward as it gets, in a hilarious way. There's no way I could play like that. It's insanely distracting and when sidestepping he just hovers around. Sounds like split screen runs well though.

The RE6 PS4/XO port actually sounds pretty good, it eliminates the screen tearing issues it had and runs at a constant 60FPS in 1080p.

So I have no idea what to expect with the RE4 port. HD Remastered HDxHD? I wish they just released the last gen HD version on disc like they're doing now, but it would have been nice to have that to go with most of my collection for the series on the PS3 via discs, I do own the download. If it's a solid port I'll probably sucker into it since I need to own every RE4 version ever.

Thanks for sharing the links I was wondering how the port would be, I'm picking up RE5 again soon. I like the new camera option, shame the detail took a hit. I would like to note though which was a small over looked factor, $20 dollar resident evil games!!! I know there has been billions of rerelease but for someone who never played that's a damn good budget title :)

Yeah, plus it comes with all the DLC, and Lost in Nightmares is incredible. A nice "what this game could have been" haha.

For a new player I'm sure the PS4 version is completely fine. Just not sure if it's justified if you already own it on last gen.

Do you have someone to play with? It's still probably one of the most fun co-op games I've ever played since like... Streets of Rage or something.

I've beaten it on 360 plus the Lost in Nightmares, felt the story had great coop moments and Lost was amazing dlc. Don't have ps+ so online isn't a priority, hopefully they tweaked Sheva in sp?

Ah yes, still waiting impatiently for the GameStop call to pick up my physical disc version on Tuesday.

I have been playing through Revelations 2 to pass the time. I bought the disc early this year during a sale so that it could collect dust on the shelf. This one should really be Falls Short: The Game. We finally get co-op, but it's offline split screen only. This is even more confusing when you realize that a lot of areas were designed with 2 players in mind. Going solo means covering the area twice to seek out hidden items that only one character can see or risk finishing the episode too ill equipped to deal with the next. I've used SharePlay as a substitute, but it's still split screen and player 2 kind of gets the short end. Your friend is doing you a favor here, forced to run support, no profile progress for themselves if they are doing their own play through.

Movement and combat is probably the best in the series so far (I haven't played 6), but hit detection is almost always against you and the lack of defined stagger and pain animations makes it difficult to judge melee attacks. It's missing that strategic flow that RE5 and the first Revelations had.

Raid mode is severely dumbed down from the first game. There are baffling penalties like weapon parts you can't switch out and "continues" that can only be earned by completing dailys. Then there's the currency system. Everything costs money. Everything. It makes me wonder if this mode was originally planned as a freemium PC or mobile title. Oh and while character stats initially are different, you eventually unlock the same skill sets for everyone, making characters a skin and nothing more. Maybe that fits in with the theme of the whole thing being a VR sim. The mode works and it feels at least as substantial as Mercenaries or Raid in other RE titles, but as perfect as this side of the game was in the first Revelations, it's just unnecessarily changed here.

I know my criticisms make it sound like I don't enjoy the game, but I am actually having a lot of fun with it. I like the location. The atmosphere is just as good or better than the first Revelations. Poor Claire, always kidnapped, waking up on some island. Maybe she should consider a tracking implant. Moira is fun, for all the reasons that people complain about. Her adolescent outbursts and cursing storms are pretty entertaining. Barry's side of the campaign is brilliant, giving you an arsenal and then pitting you against enemies that strictly prohibit you from running and gunning. They could have easily made him the Call of Duty, but we ended up with something well thought out. Invisible enemies forcing you to switch characters constantly under pressure? Excellent.

I should also mention that I just finished episode 2.

Wow, I didn't realize I was doing to write that much. Well, hit me up on PSN if any of you guys want to grind through Raid mode with a low level player. Or you could even play split screen co-op over SharePlay. ;)
