What do you guys think about Picross 3D on DS? Does the third dimension improve on the gameplay or make it unnecessarily more complex?
Also on DS you guys might like:

I felt that it made it simply made it more frustrating. I loved the other Picross's but gave up on 3d halfway through.

I really liked Picross 3D, and I actually thought it was quite a bit easier than Picross DS.
Re: Why Isn't There a More Prominent Game Boy Scene?
The 3D Picross was easier to me, but I'm not good at it. My wife is some Rain Man with that crap, she just sees it, doesn't know the math behind it (I don't get it either way really.) She had no problem rolling over Picross DS, 3D Picross, and anything she found for free on iOS and Android. She kept going back to the Nintendo ones though because they'd have like bi-weekly uploads of new puzzles to keep it fresh for awhile.

I haven't tried the 3D version yet. I'm skeptical I'd enjoy it more.

Its really fun. I was also skeptical at first, but if you enjoy other picross games, you should give it a shot.Sarge wrote:I haven't tried the 3D version yet. I'm skeptical I'd enjoy it more.
Re: Why Isn't There a More Prominent Game Boy Scene?
Bump for this very cool Game Gear
As for the original topic, games are still pretty cheap in stores and such.
I feel like Game Boys are getting more attention in the scene -- especially with mods and such.
I like picking up some new carts every now and then. I feel like portable carts are like candy. I don't feel the pressure to collect boxes (except for DS, but I haven't bought a DS game in years) and they are so cheap. And I feel like I'm more likely to buy a portable game cart out of curiosity or novelty than I am a console game.

I wish someone would make one that doesn't use canibalized Game Gears but there's some amazing consolized GG's out there.
I present the Master Gear from Japan:

It sells for a steep 20,000 yen but is super cool.

Re: Why Isn't There a More Prominent Game Boy Scene?
Probably more likely as most of them are still very cheap in that $1-30 range for a cart. You can't say that about most others, especially Nintendo branded. It's cheap enough you can blind buy like it's 10+ years ago still and go in for the mystery fun of it.
I said it awhile back and I think it's still true. It's not prominent due to stigma alone. They're looked upon as inferior versions of franchises or just in general being portable games so they're through of smaller, easier, bite sized, whatever. Throw that against now the dumber cheaper, fremium or just free garbage on a phone most people have and it's a tougher sell. I'm glad it's greatly ignored, more fun for those on a budget and those who prefer handheld stuff too.
If Nintendo goes through with a GB Classic Edition it could cause problems though if more people bite into it and want more.

There's plenty of cheap GB games, bu I can tell you they're rising in price for sure, having recently bought a bunch of them.

Which increases caught your eye?alienjesus wrote:There's plenty of cheap GB games, bu I can tell you they're rising in price for sure, having recently bought a bunch of them.
Granted all Nintendo carts are up from a few years back. I still have some stuff with price tags for $1 to $3 -- even for NES carts. I don't see that too often.
But I often find GB/GBC/GBA gems in the $3 to $7 range. I feel like the only time I see stuff edging to $10 or higher is stuff that got a lower print run.
