Second Generation Appreciation Thread
Re: Second Generation Appreciation Thread
There's a review here. The game selection isn't bad for ATGames, 60 official titles and some homebrews. The SD Card is for additional games!

I'd like it if atgames made another game gear / master system handheld, but this time with an SD card slot.

The built in selection is a little rough in spots (STOP PUTTING THE SWORDQUEST GAMES ON THESE ATGAMES, NO ONE CARES) but the SD card more than makes up for it. Here's the WIP compatibility list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0

There's a poster at Atari Age who works with AtGames on the marketing side of things. Someone asked about them revisiting the Master System and they said sales of that unit were pretty abysmal so it's unlikely but they're possibly looking to add Master System functionality to future Genesis units.
I'd like to see them expand the Atari units into 2600/5200/7800 machines myself.

I DO!
More specifically, I really liked the minigames on Fireworld. I know the games are nothing without the accompanying comic books but I still like FIREWORLD!

I wish they'd add WAYNE'S WORLD

Fireworld is the only one I actually own a cartridge of.
There's a few other stinkers like Miniature Golf, though I guess it's a perfect example of an ancient game to horrify kids with.
Also Berzerk apparently works if you shoot back towards the wall at the beginning of the game, that reportedly clears up the control issues for some reason.

After all the talk about the portable Flashback and noticing that it was one of the few consoles or compilations that managed to snag Solaris onto its lineup (due to Doug Neubauer apparently owning the rights to the game and not Atari), I went on to find an online 2600 emulator and set out to do what I wanted to do for the last 30 years, beat the damn game.
GATHER AROUND TRUE BELIEVERS, IT'S FINALLY BEEN DONE!
After spending years and years poking around the quadrants and never finding the fabled "flashing planet" that was promised in the manual, I went to this site that told you exactly how to do it and gaining many extra lives in the process, because the road to Solaris in the final quadrant it was located in had *3* groups of Cobra Ships that needed to be taken down first, them being the most aggressive enemies in the entire game. On my last life and my last unit of fuel, I did it.
All those weekends I spent in the late 80s until I got an NES by the end of 1989, all the hard work, heck even all the fun I had with this game, paid off today. I still think it's the absolute best the 2600 ever had to offer, a cohesive, graphically impressive game with a ton of depth and ambition.

So I know these are more-than-a-little unsavory, but does anyone else collect Mystique's games? I've only got two - Custer's Revenge and Beat 'Em and Eat 'Em - but with how uncommon and just downright weird they are, it's exactly the type of stuff that I love to collect.
