Well, like I said, I haven't played in awhile, so i've been saying, "iirc" and "I think"...however, the last point I still believe is accurate - I'm 99% sure you start over at the beginning of the stage if you lose your credit. Can someone else confirm? I specifically remember not being able to respawn mid-stage.DocHauser wrote:Woah, hang on a minute. Lots of wrong information here:
No. You can credit feed through a stage without starting over. This also works for Gauntlet mode. There is no situation where you'll be sent back to the start.

been too long for me to remember the respawning, etc or what's unlocked at start and all. But I will say this - I don't think we should have any situation where someone new to the game should have to credit feed or do anything to unlock the actual mode that we'll be trying to play for score. If we only have a week to put up a score, then that week should be spent trying to score, not trying to unlock a mode - even if it's only a 'trivial' amount of time/work needed to do so. Certainly some of us are gaming on limited time so none of that time should be wasted in a timed competition.

Speaking of which, you folks playing Garegga on your Saturn machines will want to make sure you clear the game (credit feeding is fine) before the competition, as that is the only way to unlock the slowdown feature. Otherwise you will be playing the game with no slowdown whatsoever, which will obviously make your attempts at a high score more difficult than those playing in Mame.
I've never played Jamestown. Sounds like it will at least be an interesting week.
I may have missed it, but was there a decision made on Deathsmiles being played in Mame? Is it legit? What are the rules on the blitter?

also, I'd recommend everyone play Jamestown on a Pentium II, so that we all get the same slowdown.

Yeah, but in this case it really is a trivial amount of time. We're not talking hours or even several minutes here. It can literally be done in seconds. Seriously. It's so trivial that it seems stupid to even 'lock' it in the first place.dsheinem wrote:this.noiseredux wrote:I don't think we should have any situation where someone new to the game should have to credit feed or do anything to unlock the actual mode that we'll be trying to play for score. I'm playing it on a POS laptop from '06 so I can have all the slowdown. My stages may take close to an hour, but my scores will be monstrous.noiseredux wrote:also, I'd recommend everyone play Jamestown on a Pentium II, so that we all get the same slowdown.
Also, if you are playing Deathsmiles on the 360, it has no slowdown until you patch it online. Figure most people will already have the patch, but I know some folks don't have their box hooked up to the interwebs.

I guess I am unclear about what it is that we're unlocking. For example, I have played 3 hours and played through all stages, but I don't have the final difficulty level opened up.DocHauser wrote:Yeah, but in this case it really is a trivial amount of time.
