I'm thinking of building a computer myself, I just need to figure out my price range. I'm thinking of about spending about 650. I want: 1TB Hardrive, Win7, 16 gigs ram and a SSD. I'm just not sure about the case and CPU and such. I'm not getting it for another year or so, so i've got plenty of time to think. It's going to be just a gaming computer.

Been playing some Far Cry: Blood Dragon today. Pretty amusing. I love the cheesy 80's feel of it. Haven't played any regular entries in the series yet, but I may after this.
hawt. How are your temps?

My CPU hit 56C today when playing Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and encoding videos w/ Handbrake at the same time. If it's just one or the other it usually hits about 50C under load. Not sure on GPU temp. Anywhere I can check that?

I did however notice a little constant clicking sound after finishing up my game session. Most definitely a fan, but why? Will have to open it while it's happening if it happens again. Either a bad fan (already?) or perhaps some cable just barely making contact with the fan? It stopped after a minute.

Sounds pretty good. http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Hmm, might be contact with a cable like you said. Might be your PSU hitting a wall with loads. I forget your make/model and wattage.

Intel i5-2570
Gigabyte GTX 770
Cosair CX600M http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817139048

Anything else really relevant for seeing if it's a PSU thing? I should have quite a bit of clearance w/ the PSU from what I can tell.

Edit: Here's a picture of the temps using that program you suggested. I played Blood Dragon for a little bit while still encoding videos.

That should be fine. Consumption on that card it around 230w +/- Factor in the rest of your components and you should be OK. nVidia recommends a 600w minimum and that's assuming it's a bottom of the barrel PSU without a bronze certification like yours. I think bronze runs something like 82% efficient under max load.

Are your case fans stock?

Case fans, yes. CPU heat sink is not. There are 3 case fans. They have their own control as I have not connected them to the mobo. Always running at 'medium' speed.

I also edited my previous post with a picture of the readings I got from that program you suggested. :)

Edit: After a little chatting w/ s1mple on Steam I opened up the case and tucked a few hard plastic connectors that may have been resting against the top of the case with the lid is on. We'll see if that has anything to do with the sound I heard. All cables seemed to have at least 1/2" clearance from any fans. I think everything is gonna be alright.

Ok, so here's the build I put together yesterday...

CPU: Intel Core i3-2120 3.3GHz Dual-Core Processor
Motherboard: Biostar TP67XE ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory: PNY Optima 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory
Storage: Western Digital 3TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: HIS Radeon HD 6950 2GB Video Card
Case: Rosewill CHALLENGER ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply
Optical Drive: LG GH24NS95 DVD/CD Writer

It powers on, but I just get a black screen (no signal). Really frustrating. I've tried DVI, HDMI and the DVI/VGA adapter. Nothing. This mobo has no onboard graphics, so I can't try that. I'm just bummed because I feel like it could take a while just to figure out what the problem is. :(

Do you have this connected? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6812201032 Any beeps? Look up what each beep means in your mobo manual. Check that your RAM is seated in the appropriate DIM. *Check your manual*We'll take it from there first...

Actually just ran downstairs to get that to install it while you were typing...

RAM is in the correct DIM - I made sure to follow the mobo manual on that.

I'll let you know about beeps...
