Bejeezus... I knew it was that one was going to be unpopular.

I have played:
Part of FF3/6,
All of 7
Got to the end of 8,
A little bit of 9
Got about halfway through 13.

Final Fantasy 9 would probably have been my favorite if I got to play it all the way through.
I really did enjoy just about every bit of FFX-2 except for the music. Although, I honestly only know one other person who share this opinion...

The fighting game community agrees with you on that one, that's why there's the fighting game community and the completely separate smash community. There are people in both communities who think it's silly, maybe it'll change, we'll see how EVO goes.

Yeah? And I'd be willing to bet they only say that because it's Nintendo and they don't want to admit to actually liking it (which I'm sure they secretly do). There's nothing more uncool than trying to convince people you're cool.

I'm betting the reason the fighting game community hates smash bros is because they specifically built the games so that they couldn't be played competitively(ie. smash ball). Good thing as far as I'm concerned. I hate the Tourney scene for fighters. Scratch that, I hate the tourney scene for everything but Starcraft.

Personally, I love watching high-level Smash and strongly disagree with a lot of the FGC's preferences, especially how certain games are widely dismissed because they're too "anime". Well, the Smash community really came through to get Melee at Evolution 2013, and if it's hype things will definitely change.

I dislike high-level Smash Bros. tournaments because from what I've seen, they tend to disable items and use only the dullest arena, which removes much of the chaotic atmosphere for me.

I also don't care for Starcraft. I always preferred Warcraft II and Total Annihilation.

Now that you mention it, there's this huge ongoing debate about what the rules should be at EVO regarding stages, Ice Climber infinites, and a whole bunch of stuff. It's something that really doesn't come up with other games.

It's the sort of thing that happens when you try and shoehorn a party game into a competitive one.
