Unfortunately, privacy policies are already being changed by the big guys (Et Tu Viacom?).

Is no one else looking into the financial opportunities here? Imagine if (no jl jokes please) if Google said "your shit..all of it, totally private for $1.00 a month. no ads, no data collection, nada. You sign this contract and we fail on security measures, sue us".

I'd pony up if/when this happens. More emphasis on "when". I'm sure top programmers at yahoo and google are wringing their hands while sporting a devilish smile thinking "Wouldn't cost too much on overhead to host a email client, and tack on cancellation fees and you're in the black for as long as more restrictions and privacy laws are passed.

www.luke'sawesomeemail.com (for $2.00usd it can be your domain!)

I have this cousin who his a teacher at a private highschool that last year became one of the first to issue Ipads to every student and teacher. Yesterday I had to put up with her complaining for 30 minutes about how during the blackout, she could not access wikipedia to teach the kids about how to not use it for reports. They were apparently in the middle of their section about quoting works and she uses wikipedia as an example - she doesnt teach from wikipedia (to my knowledge). Well she bitched for 30 minutes about how it was childish of them to black out and that SOPA wasnt that big of a deal. It took everything in me not to break down why it was bad and instead just gave her a simple answer. I said "If SOPA went through, you would lose Wikipedia, Facebook, and Youtube." She said that they wouldnt, so I had her look up it up (specifically the video from the Ted and Khan Academy). Instead she decided I was wrong and she was right, without any research. And she holds two masters and three bachelors...

I'm reminded of this every time I see someone post a "Why was I banned?" thread in the League of Legends forums.

Start there, and keep clicking the Next Riot Post button. It's vastly entertaining.

The stupid, it huuurts. Why do you hate us MrPopo, whyyyyy.

But yeah, most people simply refuse to accept anything that would change their worldview no matter how much you try to prove them the truth.

I look forward to seeing Pendragon smack people down in the Tribunal forum on the LoL site (Tribunal is their system for community moderation). They generally take the form of the following:

First post: I got a 3-day suspension but I'm a model citizen!
Pendragon: Reviewing the logs, you have 200 instances of using ethnic slurs and berating your teammates for the slightest infraction. I am going to sidestep the normal workflow and perma ban you for being a caustic member of the community.

He is a clever one. I like that he keeps his cool and researches their logs. I dont like that they keep all those logs though...makes me think Ill be using a 3rd party chat system for now on.

The logs are integral to the Tribunal. Once enough other players have reported your account it goes on a webpage where people who have reached level 30 in game can look at your case, read your logs, look at your stats, and determine if you deserve a punish or not.

I'm curious why you'd want to use a 3rd party chat system. Is it general paranoia?
